maybe a silly question about how wiim ultra manage analog in / out : If an analog source is connected to line in and the output is set to analog line out, does this mean the input is directed to out in "analog", or the in is converted to digital, the back from digital to analog?

The latter. Analogue signals are digitised and then re-analogue again.

Currently, only the Vibelink Amp can output analogue inputs as analogue.
