WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.739061 Update - Dec 18, 2025

Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.739061 (In Progress)

Release date:

Dec 18, 2025

Bug Fixes:
  1. Multiroom: Fixed an issue preventing multiroom setup with some routers.
  2. Google Cast: Fixed missing subwoofer bass output and EQ not working.

Seemingly Plex was broken for the Ultra after the previous release - saw a few reports it was only outputting low res not lossless. Surprised not to see a fix for that assuming those with the issue reported it of course

I just updated my Ultra and I'm no longer able to access my local Plex server. It shows the server but it's greyed out and says "Unavailable". My WiiM Amps, Pro, and mini can still access without issues (and no issues with iOS, AppleTV, or web). I've rebooted the Ultra, restarted the Home app, restarted Plex server, but still cannot access. Anyone else seeing this?

This is annoying for me as Plex is what I use about 95% of the time on my Ultra.

I had a similar issue with Plex. The WiiM Ultra could see and access the server, but there were no files. Restarting the server, and rebooting the WiiM fixed it.

Interesting. In my case I can't even access it. Restarts/reboots of everything in the chain doesn't help. I'll try resetting the Ultra back to factory default, but won't be able to until tomorrow or late tonight.

Edit: I had time before needing to go out and about - Factory reset and the same issue is there. It still says my server is unavailable.

I got upgraded to a version of Ultra firmware about 3 weeks ago that is totally undocumented on Wiim's forum and I had exactly the same problems as you. I put in a ticket, and eventually got Wiim to sent me the old firmware from 27/11/2025 down, Plex then worked perfectly as it had for the last year. Maybe they've included this dodgy code in the newest version as well? Thanks for the heads up, I'm off now to my router settings to remove my Ultra from having Internet access and stop this firmware update until the problem is remedied. I too use Plex on my Ultra as the main listening media, I can do with out YouTubemusic service till it's fixed. 👍

One can wonder why @WiiM Team don't do a proper regression test before releasing new firmware?

That would prevent most of this kind of errors.

There is a reason why the firmware announcements always include
"If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us."
Of course reaching out is generally futile 🤣

I spent considerable time crawling thru my Plex server settings, resetting my Ultra etc, nothing worked. But my tablet Samsung TV, tablets, phone would all connect to plex straight away so I knew it was the update. Clearly some code in the update is blocking the connection to Plex.

I mainly use Plex playlists to play the music from my library.
Since the last firmware update:
- The Wiim Android and Windows apps are showing the wrong Kbps (16-bit/44.1kHz flac should be close to 1000kbps, only showing 200-300 Kbps)
- Many songs are not played fully. It skips to the next song half way through.
Both issues are new. I have been using Plex playlists for over a year now.
I also have a Wiim Mini (20251102). For the Mini the apps still show the correct Kbps and the songs don't skip.

The primary way of "reaching out" is still sending feedback through the WiiM Home App, not complaining on the forum. ;) At least you are guaranteed to get an individual response, if you request it.

@SoFluffy, @CliffyBC, @DHvR, whatever you do to tackle down your issues with the WiiM Ultra and Plex, always make sure to use the "Feedback" feature on the "More..." tab inside the WiiM Home App. This is the structured way of making WiiM aware of any real issues and the device logs will help them understanding the root cause.

I did feedback as soon as this undocumented update was sent down to me.
I received a reply that I had been whitelisted and they had removed me from the whitelist (whatever that meant?).
I was then told that an update would get downloaded to correct the problem.
Nothing happened for about ten days and despite me continually clicking the "download update" button.
I then asked support to send me the previous firmware that worked fine before.
They did and indeed it did work fine again.
I followed the correct procedure but still I couldn't access my Plex server for a considerable time.
Surely it's not beyond Wiim's control to run new firmware thru some sort of test procedure to reduce the risk of breaking something?
I imagine connection to a Plex server is a popular usage for a Wiim Ultra and checking that any update doesn't kill that connection wouldn't be that difficult to implement?
Or am I just asking for too much?

For sure, they didn't run any regression test. They are a bunch of clueless people, not able to develop, produce and maintain Hi-Fi devices. :D

With this out of the way, one day they might learn how to do it when they listen carefully to their expert user base. To give them a chance to, it's still helpful to send feedback whenever a new issue arises in any combination of software, firmware, hardware.

Or am I asking too much? ;)

I have reasonable experience in IT but very little with Hi-fi devices so I struggle a bit with that side of it. I would guess that recruiting staff with a great expertise in both disciplines is rather problematic for Wiim.
I'm happy with the service Wiim gives overall, and the level of expertise that the support staff have.
I would like to see that senior management in support put in place a series of effective checks that any firmware updates would have to pass before being pushed out.
I'm sure they do this to some degree but at times they aren't effective.
I would prefer to see a Firmware update every 3 or six months that is fully tested and doesn't break anything than every 3 weeks, introducing bugs and problems that were absent from the old firmware.

But that's just me, others may like updates regularly, I would rather not have the aggro of them being "faulty".

Understood. In the meantime, is anything wrong with sending feedback whenever you stumble across an issue? :)

All seems to be working fine on my side - normal firmware update & restart of my Ultra, Plex accessible without any issues.
Can you play lossless FLAC files ok? That seems to be an issue on the recent two firmware updates for the ultra
