Sorry of bother for something maybe silly.

During normal operation the Ultra becomes quite warm, and I can't find any spec about this behavior.
Is this something normal or shall I forward my doubt to the support?

Thanks in advance.

I believe it’s quite normal as it uses the case to disperse the heat

That's very reassuring.
I usually tend to have a look at working temperatures of the devices I use, and of course the alumine case is there for this reason.
Well, so nothing that cannot be solved with a silent fan. ;)

Thanks a lot for your quick answer!

Define quite warm.
My Ultra has been in use for about 10 hours today, and the case isn’t even close to being luke warm.

Well, it averages between 35-38 Celsius at max, within an hour of operation and the room its regimed at 19-20 Celsius.
Wall voltage sometimes peaks 242-245 VAC but it seems not be the cause, even it also happens when voltage drops to 220 VAC.
As I wrote, no matters to me to aim one of my fans at it, it's just a matter of troubleshoot.

Temp is not an issue. 240V is a significant issue for Ultra and many other power clients.

I just noticed a curious event.
The heat builds up when I connect the Ultra via RCAs to my mosfet amp, and it seems not to happen if I connect the Ultra to an external DAC via Toslink.
Maybe some ground voltages could do the trick?

It looks like that your local utility has a defective step-down voltage transformer or they are incompetent regulating voltage.
Interesting.
Maybe not actually this, but your hint triggered me a question... what if due some uh...difficulties at our local utility, the Neutral reference drifts off from its almost zero?
I knew that something similar did happen several decades ago, but it's worth checking it.

-edit-
So far, so good... there is current (few mA but it is there) flowing between ground lugs of different wall sockets, of course if the Ultra has no galvanic contact (only via Toslink) the problem is gone.
Dead cold.

Are you serious? 🤦‍♂️
Voltage range in UK is 216-254V

Absolutely serious. I would be calling my utility. Nomal service voltage should be within +-5% at the limit.

Where I live single phase nominal RMS voltage is 120V. Voltage on my site is precisely 120V on any of the supplied phases.

Well 240V is standard in the UK. Always has been. It used to be 240V +6%, -10%. Now it is 230V +10%, -6%. In practice it is pretty close to 240V whatever you might think about it 😃

There many factor such as ambient temperature. I’m pretty sure ultra went on extensive testing before went on production. I believe ultra comes with 5 years warranty so if anything went wrong your ultra will be fix/replace. By the time it reach 5 years, new generation or successor would be in placed.

I thought that I would try monitoring the temperature of the top casing of my Ultra, and started measuring at 7:30 am when it was 11.3 °C.
It has been playing ever since then, and is currently (10:00 am) 16.8 °C. I will keep monitoring it to see how it goes over the next few hours.

Is that in your fridge or are you living in an iglu?🥶
