Sub w/Wiim Ultra LPF sounds very different to the Subs LPF

I've just added a Sub (SVS SB1000Pro) to my Wiim Ultra -> Fosi V3 - > Wharfedale Eco 4.3 System.

Playing around with the settings I've noticed a very significant increase in bass when using the SVS LPF rather than the Wiims. For clarity, both LPF are set the same, difference is only the Sub Bypass setting being off or on.

I have also noticed the difference becomes less pronounced (but still there) if the gain on the sub is reduced, which makes me think the sub gain is emphasised over the Wiim gain when the bypass is on.

The difference is not subtle. I've heard this could be related to the slope setting on the sub, but changing this makes not much difference.

Any ideas if this is normal?

I have the same sub and the same conclusion. It sounds clearer to me also. So I use the svs LPF by engaging that subwoofer bypass option.

Also, just the action of activating the subwoofer in the wiim app, even if the sub volume is all the way down to -60db or off, result in a subtle but noticeable loss of clarity. I don't know why that happens. By loss of clarity what I mean is some loss on reverb extension on snare drums, cymbals and female vocals mainly.

I use the main speakers output bass option too so toggling the sub on and off in the app, when sub is actually off should sound the same but I'm pretty convince it does not.

Have you tried line-level input and let SB1000 Pro manage crossover and phase? My set up has two subwoofers, each for left and right channels. I rely on the subwoofer's crossover.
