Hello everyone,

I just ordered a WiiM Ultra to use as a streamer and EQ for my home TV and music set-up. I currently am running my older Sony A8H with an NVIDIA Shield because it's a lot faster than what's built in on the TV. I run Shield into TV via HDMI then optical from the TV into my Yamaha A-S501 amplifier and then out into my Zu Omens. Right now the Shield remote controls the amplifier volume perfectly. When I introduce the WiiM, I'd love to keep everything to one remote so it's easy for everyone in the house to use. Would it be better to do hdmi arc or keep the optical set-up? Would I need to do WiiM hdmi to the TV or to the Shield? I never use the Sony TV remote and am not sure if the Shield remote would still control everything (outside of the wiim) if I go that route. Also, I'd like to make sure I'm optimizing sound quality. Any suggestions of the best connection path?

Thank you!

This will work if both the NVIDIA Shield and the TV is configured to use CEC for volume control.

Connect then WiiM via HDMI ARC and it will follow the volume of the TV.

I use Wiim Amp and Nvidia Shield with LG OLED. I control everything with LG remote (including Wiim’s volume). Work flawlessly.
Does your LG remote control your Shield? I’m hoping it works flawless for me too. I don’t use my tv remote and have a separate amp so it makes things a bit trickier. If it doesn’t work, I’ll have to sell both for the ultra amp. I love the sound of the Yamaha though. Just need convenience right now if I can’t make it work.

Yes, it can control basic Shield functions like on screen navigation. For example I use SmartTube as YouTube replacement, and fully control it with LG remote. Actually it is the only remote I use in my living room.
