Wiim Ultra to 5.1 soundbar via HDMI or Sony Bravia A9S to Ultra via HDMI - which is better?

Hi folks,

Debating which would be the better way to go if using my Ultra as my hub to send sound from my various devices to my Vizio V51-HS 5.1 soundbar surround system

(Dolby Atmos is not a consideration at this time. Perhaps down the road.)

Is it better to go FROM the Ultra to my sound system via HDMI and connect the Bravia to the Ultra via optical input on the Ultra?

OR

Is is better to go FROM the Bravia to the Ultra via HDMI and then from the Bravia optical output to the Ultra optical input?

Please give me your insights and/or pros/cons. Thank you.

The Ultra doesn't have an HDMI output so you have no choice.

Ah, I misunderstood and thought it functioned both as input or output depending on setup. Thank you for clarifying.
