Multi channel decoding to stereo via HDMI

Hi wiimers, first post here, I have a Mini and considering buying an Ultra. I would connect it to my TV via HDMI and output via RCA to my Marantz stereo receiver (currently TV is directly linked to receiver via optical). I like the idea of having equalizer and room correction available.

I see "Add support for 5.1 and 7.1 multi-channel audio playback, which will be converted to stereo audio during playback" in a recent update. Anyone using this? What codecs are supported exactly, just AC3 or EAC3 too? How is the sound quality, would you say it's an improvement setting your TV to passthrough and letting Wiim decode to stereo over your TV just outputting stereo PCM? Any issues (lag, pops, sound dropouts...)?

With wiim decoding surround from my Sony or Samsung has issues over time. It pops occasionally and will start to sound distorted after a while. For now it works best just taking in pc 2 channel.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I'll give them more time to iron things out then, it is a new feature after all...

Hope you do send feedback through the WiiM Home App whenever that happens, so they might be able to find the root cause.

+1 on this! The team will want to dig into it.

Make sure you note the type of audio format that is trying to play when this happens.
