WiiM Ultra to WiiM Ultra - turntable streaming but no EQ

Hi everyone!

I'm hoping for some thoughts/discussion. I've raised a ticket and awaiting a response from WiiM but others may have experiences of the same issue.

I have a turntable connected to a WiiM ultra in my office using the WiiM phono inputs.

I want to stream from this unit to a second WiiM Ultra in my lounge room which is connected to Fosi V3 monoblocks by RCA cables which drive a set of Bose 901s and a SB1000 sub (using the sub out).

The Bose 901 speakers are fairly unusual in that they each have 8 full range drivers which need a lot of EQ (they shipped with a active hardware EQ) - but there is no need for it really as WiiM's EQ let's me approximate the original EQ.

Unfortunately when I stream the TT audio from the first WiiM to the lounge WiiM, there is no EQ using groups in the WiiM home app.

I've:
-Reset both units
-Updated to lasted firmware
-Confirmed EQ for the phono works on the first unit through headphone output on that unit

Also wondering whether the room correction needs to be run on the office WiiM when it is physically in the lounge (if the room correction is applied on the first WiiM, not the second WiiM)

Apologies if this isn't exactly clear - I'm relatively new to streaming.

Hi,
EQ and RoomFit will not affect other WiiM devices. Please run RoomFit on the Ultra in the office and lounge respectively.

Thanks for the response! Could you explain this a little more - the office WiiM is only used to stream the Turntable to the other WiiM, and output by Bluetooth to a headset so RoomFit won't (shouldn't) be needed.

Is the RoomFit applied to the signal the lounge WiiM or is it applied to the office WiiM? Similarly, my understanding is that the EQ is seperate, and is applied at the office WiiM stage (i.e. that's where the processing is done before it's sent to the lounge unit which really just passes it through to the amp).

In that case, please run RoomFit in the lounge's Ultra. There is no need to run RoomFit in the office's Ultra.

The EQ and RoomFit settings applied to the office's Ultra will not be applied to other WiiM devices within the group. Please apply EQ and RoomFit individually to each device as required.🙂

Thanks for the tips, I've rerun for the lounge and the EQ is still unresponsive... However I noticed if I use DLNA from the office to the lounge unit, I can EQ the lounge unit - so it looks like it is an issue with the Groups function in the app maybe - what's weird is that there is some kind of EQ because when the EQ is off on the lounge unit in DLNA mode it sounds terrible (as expected).

Hopefully WiiM have a closer look - will report back once I hear from them.

Please unlink the group and then run RoomFit on the Ultra in the lounge. After that, please link the two devices again.

Thanks - I unlinked the group, ran RoomFit (created a new profile etc), linked again - EQ still does nothing.

Please note that EQ is switched off after RoomFit run. Is both EQ and RoomFit enabled on the Ultra in the lounge?

EQ and RoomFit are separate functions. EQ can be applied over RoomFit.

Thanks again for the response - yes I can confirm the EQ has been switched on as well as RoomFit on the Ultra in the lounge and the EQ settings have no effect on the sound.

That's odd..

Open the Ultra EQ screen in the Lounge and try setting it up like this.
(Please ensure the Wi-Fi input is selected.)

Can you no longer hear the bass from the speakers?

As the EQ can apply different filters to each input, please select the input before making adjustments.

Switching this to wifi has resolved my issue. Thank you very very much & have a great weekend.
EQ is per input and only work for a physical output of the device, not a link or Bluetooth (DLNA?).

A linked device (follower) receives the data on the WiFi/Ethernet input, so the EQ shall be used for that.
