Hello, I have bought a Wiim Ultra and I am looking forward to getting to know my way around the user interface and experiencing its comprehensive feature set. Regarding connections to my amp I recognise that the line outs are the common RCA unbalanced type which are no problem with my present stereo power amp, but I was wondering if I move to active speakers will the unbalanced connection to each speaker be an issue?

I anticipate the rca leads to each speaker to be no longer than 3 metres each?

Cheers Roog

active speakers can handle unbalanced connections same as any other device, they just want ANY sort of line level input.

You probably won't notice a difference unless your power supply is that bad that you get grounding issues coming across as distortion through the RCA cables.

RCA cables have been around since 1930s and people still use them with good reason, they're simple, and work for almost every application.

Thankyou @cooky560 i understand whst you are saying. I don’t have any hang up with RCA connections I was just concerned about longer cables when using unbalanced?

I have always used short line level signal cables between equipment and wondered whether there were issues when running them via the longer runs necessary to reach each speaker?

Beside that RCA cables are so easy for self-manufacturing in exact the lengths one needs. A little time and a bit of tools which normally are in every home for other usage and you know whats in. Not necessarily believing the lyrics from advertisers. ;-)

How long are the cable runs we're talking about here?
