YouTube Music Rolling Out to WiiM Devices

YTM Amp Ultra (Facebook Post) (2).png

We’re excited to share that YouTube Music has started rolling out this month to WiiM devices, beginning with Ultra and Amp Ultra. A YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium subscription is required for this integration, which brings access to over 100 million official tracks, curated playlists, remixes, live performances, and fan favorites directly to your WiiM streamers and streaming amplifiers.

Which devices are supported?

YouTube Music will be available on:
  • WiiM streamers: Pro, Pro Plus, Ultra (excluding the WiiM Mini)
  • WiiM amplifiers: Amp, Amp Pro, and Amp Ultra
  • WiiM CI MOD S and CI MOD A80
  • WiiM Edition Audio Pro will receive YouTube Music in a future update
Please note YouTube Music is not available for WiiM Mini due to hardware limitations.

How it works

Just like with other streaming services, you'll control YouTube Music through the WiiM Home app directly. The integration works seamlessly with all the features you already use - voice control, EQ settings, stereo pairing, WiiM remotes, and room grouping.

Getting started

Make sure you're running the latest version of the WiiM Home app and that your device firmware is up to date. YouTube Music is rolling out to WiiM devices over the next few weeks, so if you don’t see it available yet, just give it some time. YouTube Music will appear in your list of available streaming services. Just add your YouTube Music Premium account to your WiiM device, and you’re ready to rock! Please note that a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium subscription is required.

This partnership gives you access to YouTube Music's massive catalog, including those hard-to-find live versions and remixes that make the platform unique. And as always, you get WiiM's quality and flexible connectivity options.

Thanks to everyone who's been requesting this integration. We heard you, and we're thrilled to make it happen.

For setup questions or if you run into any issues, drop a comment below and we'll help you out.

Happy listening!

Unfortunately the WiiM app can’t access that uploaded music (neither can my iPad YTM app for that matter…). I’ve raised a ticket to see if that can be added
WiiM Support have responded to say that the YTM API doesn't support access to uploaded music :(

Not to bothered as all the music is on a hard drive plugged into my ultra
Just nice to have an online backup 👍
Me too - my music library is on my PC, NAS, Raspberry Pi and USB drive into my Ultra. And backed up to two external drives I keep in the car...

That’s a shame, but having thought about it, I’m but sure how relevant it is.

The reason for having those separate music files is in case they’re not on streaming. If they’re not on streaming, and you’re using your WiiM, you’d use a USB or NAS anyway, not YTM.

Loading the files to YTM therefore only becomes useful when you’re away from home/your WiiM, so compatibility with your WiiM doesn’t come up.

Where I find that sort of feature useful is to mix streaming tracks and uploaded tracks in playlists like I do on Amazon Music where I uploaded a ton of tracks when they offered that upload feature.

OK, so it will just show up when I click on browse—>manage music services for a particular device?

Yeah, after the firmware update it should appear on the browse page, I think it’ll be enabled by default so no need to go into manage services.

I have it on my ProPlus. I have YT Premium so it was to login and start using YTM right away.

I like the interface and appreciate have YTM. I watch a lot of artists on YTM, and even use for discovering new music. So was pleased to see all the suggestions available that were spot on

However, I didn’t not like the sound. I listened to Tame Impala’s The Moment on both YTM natively and on AM via AirPlay. On YTM he dynamic range seemed compressed and the track was lacking detail. So until they upgrade YTM to 256, I will passing.

@RyanWithWiiM, @WiiM Team, @WiiM Support,

There seems to be a problem with Youtube music playback. I have experienced sound drop and noise on several occasions.

Here is a source that can be reproduced with my Amp Ultra.

Please focus the ''Ocean's'' in this lyrics.

"Sometimes I take a drive out to the beach The ocean's my only real friend"

Playback of YTM at WHA.
Noise is audible.

Also dropping may occur when playing videos.

Is this related to the fact that WHA can only play 129 Kbps? Unfortunately, I can't continue to use YTM as it is now.
I will now send a ticket.

I totally agree, sound quality is poor. I will be sticking to Chromecast until native 256 is implemented.
