You can change the mime type in some cases. I forget the details but others have done this. But, just changing the extension is probably easier.
Bob is good at this stuff :)
I just looked at my setup and I have it set to Specified Output Format and PCM 24 Bit. I do not remember why but I do remember making that change. You might try that.
I also have settings in DSP Studio to downsample everything about 192 KHz to either 176 or 192 KHz, whichever is an integer...
Is that for just aiff or is it for all file types? It sounds like it is just aiff.
Do you have anything set in DSP Studio?
Can you connect from the Wiim to JRiver through Home Music Share and play that way?
What happens? Does JRiver say it is playing and nothing comes out of the Wiim?
Check the advanced options under the DLNA server configuration setup. Is aiff being converted to something else? Set it to Original Format and see if that works.
Sorry for any misunderstanding. These were general comments aimed at multiple points being made in this thread and were not in any way a criticism of your work.
" in the end, they are one set of observations that should not be generalized to all cases." Sounds like you agree with that...
No one experiment like this is definitive for all users. The results depend on the nature of the speakers and the sound perception of the listener.
For example, some 3 way speakers have significant impedance variation throughout the frequency range and often have significant phase angle...
Yes, I have heard that it works with at least some Sonos speakers. but, as far as I know the only official release is on an Ultra, which I do not need.
Many optical cables are limited to 96 KHz, even expensive ones. That does not have to be the case, but many are just not made very well. The problem is usually not with the fiber itself but with the lenses at the end of the cable. Some hardware manufactures that can do 192 Khz over Toslink but...
This DLNA support is the other way around. It lets a Wiim play to a DLNA device, most often a DLNA speaker.
For me, it would mean I could integrate my Sonos speakers into Wiim playback. I have too many Sonos speakers, in particular a Sonos soundbar, to simply replace them. If Wiim cannot...
You can get an impedance matching speaker control box, with or without volume controls. The present a constant 4 ohm impedance to the amp no matter what speakers are currently running. The volume controls allow you to adjust each par of speakers. Monoprice and Niles are the common ones. You...
