    Universal Remote Controls

Some comments ... A high end remote (like Home Theater Master from Universal Remote Control or Crestor) can control pretty much everything in your system, as long as the equipment handles IR and/or RF. They are incredible flexible, but the do not typically handle Bluetooth. These remotes...

What external DAC to improve the Ultra?

Most DACs today use delta-sigma processing which usually uses oversampling, feedback loops and noise shaping. Typically, NOS R2R DACs do not oversample and the R2R ladder does no processing other than to set set the appropriate voltage for each bit. A good quality NOS R2R produces sound is...

    Cables for 4ohm speakers

Your link does not say anything about type of wire used. That is why I check to be sure it is OFC.

    Cables for 4ohm speakers

Here is an audiophile cable. Used it is only $32K. List $48K. https://www.ebay.com/itm/326652355648?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338678874&toolid=20006&customid=0f046f34ef3a122f8f0a0749f66f566a%7C%7C&gclid=0f046f34ef3a122f8f0a0749f66f566a&loc_physical_ms=104109

    Cables for 4ohm speakers

CCA is coming from Asia as a cheaper version than pure copper. Many people do not know the difference. But it is not that much less expensive than copper.

    Cables for 4ohm speakers

Basically the same price as the entry level speaker cable (e.g. Amazon Basic and Monoprice). The cheaper brands are usually copper coated aluminum, which I would avoid given how cheap the oxygen free copper cables are.

    Cables for 4ohm speakers

That is hardly "audiophile", it is just good quality copper. Monoprice 14 gauge oxygen free is $30 for 50 feet - hardly a "audiophile" price. Amazon Basic is even cheaper. Most pure copper speaker cable is oxygen free.

    Cables for 4ohm speakers

14 gauge speaker wire should be fine. I would get oxygen free copper rather than copper clad aluminum. Banana plugs are nice, but not necessary. CL2/3 if using in-wall. Monoprice, Blue Jean, Audioquest are good brands but the more generic ones should be OK. Just check that they are oxygen free...

An easier way to play music from WHA?

Actually some players allow you to specify where you want to start, which can be on the main page or at a particular spot in the program. In this case it could be the main page, a specified streaming service or My Music or Home Music Server. It is a simple setting and should be pretty easy to...

Features wanted in a Wiim Ultra 2

One of the biggest changes I have made was moving from a solid state preamp to a tube preamp. I don't think you can mimic those 2 sounds with DSP. Plus there are people who do not want to convert analog (like vinyl) to digital. There is a place for a highly integrated system, but it does limit...

Features wanted in a Wiim Ultra 2

Unfortunately, that limits your options over time. I have had 3 DACs and 2 preamps in my system with the same speakers. With separates, I can fine tune the sound rather than getting just what the manufacturer wants.

Features wanted in a Wiim Ultra 2

Exactly. One of the most common uses for balanced connections is in microphones and other equipment used in live performances. The signal level in microphone cables is low and the cable runs can be very long and thus susceptible to electric noise in an environment that is full of electrical...

Android Home Music Server (DLNA) Connection to Windows DLNA Sever

My problem statement is what I observed. I have a DLNA server running under JRiver on the PC. I did not see that server on the Wiim Home app under Home Music Share on my phone. So, as suggested here, I looked for the BubbleUpNP server on my phone. When I opened it, it asked me to Enable it...

    Native DSD support via USB

Two issues here. Pass through and decoding. The systems I am familiar with that pass DSD through without decoding do indeed pass the signal through with any volume change. The DAC and/or the preamp control the volume. If the DAC decodes the DSD signal to analog, then the volume control can be...
