Go for the sub. I sold my stand alone DAC (Schiit Bifrost 2) after getting my Ultra. -- couldn't tell a difference. A properly set up sub makes a big difference in audio quality. But, I realize some people like extra boxes and experimenting.
A 3 foot stranded 18 gauge power cord has a resistance of 0.019 ohms. A 16 gauge cord is at 0.012 ohms. So both have a resistance of under two hundredths of an ohm. A 15 amp wall socket can deliver up to 1,800 watts of power, so a rough back-of-the-envelope calculation says that the 18 gauge...
You didn't say how the Ultra is connected to the Vibelink. If via analog RCA cables check to.see if the plugs are fully inserted. Also try switching left and right on the RCA or using a different cable.
In most speakers, dips like you describe tend to be limited to a narrow frequency band. It really only becomes an issue if one needs the speaker to play at a loud volume that requires continuous max power from the amp at that one frequency. Most music is dynamic and more than one note sambas...
Thanks. In my case it likely makes little to no difference. Not a ton of two ohm loads out there (and certainly not in my case), and I'm not a head-banger when it comes to volume anyway. Plus my sub is separately powered which is where tons of power is generally needed. And, the extent to...
Details? My understanding is that both use the TPA3255 power chips and OPA1612 op amps with PFFB. Both are 100 watts/ch at 8 ohms. I'm sure there are some differences, but "completely different"?
Just a footnote -- virtually all of the copyright violation lawsuits in the U.S. involved people who posted digital copies on the internet. Napster was one of the biggest offenders. The setup was called "peer to peer file sharing." In this situation one person could upload a track or album and...
Curious, wonder if the OP is using the Room Correction feature of the Ultra? This has made a bigger difference than any other change in electronics I've tried over the years. I had a well respected standalone DAC prior to the Ultra (Schiit Bifrost 2) which I ended up selling after getting the...
Wiim's remote controls work with the Mini -- I'm using one at the moment in my office to control a Mini for background music. The only catch is that you have to buy the remote separately, but they are not very expensive and you can even find them used on eBay.
Curious, what's wrong with being able to move the slider which shows the progression of the song being played? I happened to be listening to a song as I read this thread so picked up my phone and was able to move playback backwards to earlier in the song and forward to later in the song. Perhaps...
Have you tried using one of the other Pros in place of the Pro Plus in the Leak system? If that does not improve the situation then that would suggest there is something going on with the DAC in the Leak. (Since you are using an optical connection to the Leak that means it is using the Leak's...
I'm like Burnside -- haven't had this issue on any of my units (Ultra, Pro+, Pro & Mini). Sounds like something specific to your unit so sending a ticket through your app is the best bet.
Audiosciencereview.com did a comprehensive test and review of the WiiM Vibelink amp, so tons of numbers and specs there and received their approval. I believe the Amp Ultra's power section is pretty much the same as what's in the Vibelink. I use the Vibelink with a pair of Ohm 1000s and am...
