RE: Meze 109 Pro Headfi.org has a thread on this set of headphones, currently with 4,351 responses. That should give you a good range of opinions on them, though reading other people's likes and dislikes will never a substitute for hearing them yourself.

Sorry, I didn't look closely enough but thought you were dealing with local files. Still, probably a metadata issue, only at their end of things. One more thought is that filenames generally cannot include symbols like an ampersand so names with them often substitute "and" in its place. So...

Get a program like MP3Tag and check the metadata of the files involved. There is probably some inconsistency in the various fields.

Not mentioned by anyone yet is that the WiiM Ultra's line out is single-ended RCA. The OP indicated that he is using the balanced XLR outputs of the Mimir. I'm old enough to remember the tube days when anything under 1% THD was doing really good. And those amps still have a following to this day that loves the way they sound. Don't think I'll spend any time worrying about THD under a fraction of one-thousandth of a percent. ;)

Question -- have you compared the specs on the output level of the external DAC you're using to that put out by the Ultra's internal DAC? Not all devices put out the same voltage level at their line-out jacks.

I'd just comment that you're not hearing the T8 by itself. It is delivering 1s & 0s from its output. The analog sound you are hearing is coming from whatever external DAC, preamp and other devices you are using.

Just a couple of comments. All this talk about electrical noise. The Ultra has tested out at about 120 dB of dynamic range with distortion under two-ten thousandth's of a percent. The ambient noise in my listening room is, on a really good day, about 30 dB. My "loud" listening is in the mid-80...
