Change power cord to the Ultra

Yup, will repeat the blind test question. Theories are nice but just that until proven repeatably by others. I've read elaborate quantum physics justification for improving sound by putting photos in a freezer. Those people swear by it, too. ;)

Change power cord to the Ultra

On the issue of subjective listening, I'd like to recommend this book: "A Mind of Its Own - How Your Brain Distorts and Deceives" by Dr. Cordelia Fine. It is a great read and explains in great detail how our brains can fool us. The titles of the nine chapters are pretty self-explanatory: 1. The...

Change power cord to the Ultra

Sorry, those cables aren't fancy looking enough for me....

WiiM Pro Plus Firmware v4.8.737630 Update - Dec 4, 2025

I understand the difference -- I run the LMS (server) on a separate RPi and have the Squeezelite option turned on for all my WiiM players plus another RPi/PcP player. It was the above post from WiiM that referred to LMS -- its not unusual for people to use the LMS/Squeezelite terms interchangeably.

WiiM Pro Plus Firmware v4.8.737630 Update - Dec 4, 2025

Just curious, why the need to disable LMS by default? It has never interfered with my using the WiiM or Qobuz Connect apps. I do understand that it is still available, but am just interested in the reason behind the change. And, BTW, it has been Lyrion Music Server for some time now. Logitech...

Wiim Amp Ultra Component Rack System

I have to ask -- 9 Amp Ultras in one room? Be interested in hearing the story behind that. :)

How do I enable DLNA UPnP Renderer for Linux

I use a Raspberry Pi, which uses Linux, as my personal music and video library. For audio, I've installed LMS (Lyrion Music Server). This works perfectly with the WiiM players, all which except the Mini have Squeezelite player capability. (My music is stored on a separate NAS that has...

    Amp vs Vibelink

I noticed that when the Vibelink was first released and thought the slight mismatch of knobs between the Ultra and Vibelink was an odd oversight for what was otherwise an excellent cosmetic match. However, I bought a Vibelink anyway and am pleased that I did. The two units are stacked and I...

    Ultra remote power button

I have a WiiM Vibelink amp and use the 12 volt trigger cable from the Ultra. The amp turns off just fine after 15 minutes (one can set the timer in increments from never off to 30 seconds up to 4 hours.)

    Ultra remote power button

I don't think I've ever powered off my Ultra or two Pros. I like the analog clock on the Ultra when not playing music.

Features wanted in a Wiim Ultra 2

I think the answer to this issue would be an output to a large external touch screen monitor of your choice.

Upgrade advice: External DAC or WiiM Sub Pro?

Go for the sub. I sold my stand alone DAC (Schiit Bifrost 2) after getting my Ultra. -- couldn't tell a difference. A properly set up sub makes a big difference in audio quality. But, I realize some people like extra boxes and experimenting.

Wiim Amp Ultra power cord AWG?

A 3 foot stranded 18 gauge power cord has a resistance of 0.019 ohms. A 16 gauge cord is at 0.012 ohms. So both have a resistance of under two hundredths of an ohm. A 15 amp wall socket can deliver up to 1,800 watts of power, so a rough back-of-the-envelope calculation says that the 18 gauge...

    No sound from right speaker

You didn't say how the Ultra is connected to the Vibelink. If via analog RCA cables check to.see if the plugs are fully inserted. Also try switching left and right on the RCA or using a different cable.
