Just a note that when prior models were first released, one didn't see "sale" prices on them during Black Friday or other sales events for the new model even though other WiiM products were being discounted at the time. The Vibelink has now been out for about a year so it doesn't surprise me that you're now seeing a sale price here and there. And, by itself, that doesn't mean a new model is immediately pending -- the Ultra, Pro, Pro Plus and other models have all been offered on sale every now and then and no replacement models have shown up for any of them yet.

In my opinion latest with the Amp Ultra - offering PFFB - the market for new Vibelinks became even smaller. So, why should WiiM or the re-sellers not try to clean the warehouses? Personally I do not believe that this device will get a direct follow-up. The long time owners of the streamers-only have found their solutions most likely already, many with other brands like Fosi. Reading the forum let me think so. The Vibelink is kind of an in-between, neither a real integrated nor a pure power amp. No fish, no beef. But other mileages may vary.

The WiiM Vibelink Amp is a pure power amp (as far as WiiM marketing goes) with a great DAC as an add-on. And as such it's a much underrated gem.

My $0.02.
Underrated? When I talk to real people who loves their WiiMs - and I do this a lot - but are not such fans 😉 like some here, I would even say it is the least successful device among the WiiM products. I never said it is a bad product, I only predict this very special concept will not find a follow-up. My €0,01.

I don't see a contradiction here. A technically excellent product can be misunderstood, thus underrated, thus less commercially successful than it could be.

That's not a matter of being a fan ;) or a "real person", whatever that might mean. ;)

Anyway. The context was only my written opinion that there will NOT be a follow up for this technical nice, but away from the market device.

As an example. Topping Mini 300 vs WiiM Vibelink

SINAD:
Topping 104.5dB
WiiM 100dB

SNR (at 5W):
Topping 106.5dB
WiiM 102dB

SNR at full power:
Topping 120.5dB
WiiM 118dB

Multitone Distortion:
Topping: 20-18 bits
WiiM 16-17 bits

Power (at 4 ohm):
Topping 104W
WiiM 134W

Power at 1% THD (into 4 ohms):
Topping 120W
WiiM 178W

So the Topping is 'better' in every department, albeit not by a lot, and almost certainly inaudibly), except power, though you'd need a pretty power-hungry speaker and/or a large room to fill if 120W wasn't enough power and you needed the 178W.

But the real kicker is the price. The Vibelink is £320. The Mini 300 is only £139.

On the back of that, I think WiiM's strength is its ability to create streamers with great functionality. There are three areas in which their products exist (leaving aside the smart speakers), streaming, DAC, and amp.

DACs are a fixed problem, and it would appear thst any fairly competent manufacturer can manage to make a transparent DAC for £100, give or take. Amps are more difficult to do right, but most manufacturers are getting their, but some are ahead of the game and doing it more cheaply. At the moment that doesn't include WiiM.

That leaves the streaming side of things, including the room correction, functionality for subs, etc. WiiM are in a class of their own, at their price point. Or any price point.

That's why the most awaited new WiiM products appear to be a Mini replacement (pure streamer, no DAC, or 'good enough' DAC), and an Ultra Plus.

If one looks at sales numbers on Amazon, the product they need to drop immediately is the new Smart Speaker with display. Sales are half that of Vibelink.

It doesn't surprise me that their streamers out-sale the amps. Lots of people have an existing stereo and their only need is an added streamer. If one is.only considering sales numbers, their Mini sales are double or more any of their other products.

I'm betting they could do a new Mini Plus with a transparent DAC and just a bit more processing grunt for £100.

Reminder: So far there hasn't been a successor to any WiiM audio product, nor has any product been discontinued. It's only been "fans" discussing their opinions an what may follow. ;)

@Steve Woodhouse, I agree that the Mini 300 is quite an attractive offering for many use cases. It's also quite a new product, newer than the Vibelink Amp. The Mini 300 the de facto (though not official) successor to the PA5 ii, which has had its issues and was quite a bit more expensive. Comparing it to the WiiM Vibelink Amp based on their ASR reviews is not easy, though. Almost all measurements have been taken using the balanced input of the Mini 300 (which the Vibelink Amp doesn't have) and the toslink input of the WiiM Vibelink Amp (which the Mini 300 does not have). Amir mentioned that the ground loop issue spoiling the RCA measurements of the Vibelink Amp might be unique to his measuring setup (and based on my own experience I tend to think so). Anyway, the net result is that most of the measurements mentioned cannot be compared like for like.

I agree that the differences are most probably not audible, so - as usual - the deciding factors are mostly features, the visual appearance, build quality and - yes! - power output. Power might not be an issue for desktop Hi-Fi users, but in a typical living room it's not just important for owners of very low sensitivity speakers.

Everybody is free to choose their power amps and DACs. The Mini 300 certainly offers big bang for the buck, if you don't need excessive power (in particular in the bass) and can make use of its balanced inputs. But if you want more power, a match with the WiiM design language and no external power brick, and/or if you want to make use of the better DAC, the WiiM Vibelink Amp is a great and (I repeat) underrated offering.

I strongly suspect Mini 300 can be counted as having reliability built on the PA5ii, in the same way the PA5ii was built on improving on the reliability issues of the vanilla PA5. Many of Amir's measurements were indeed using the balanced outs, and we can have a spectacularly good guess using the few measurements he did on the Mini 300's SE outs, and the differences between SE and balanced on the PA5 and PA5ii.

But yes, it's great to have the choice.
