Since they now have a free version of Plexamp, couldn't they just limit casting to DLNA renderers to Plexpass owners - with access to the full version of the app?
I see... the Plexamp implementation on the WiiM could do without the whole web interface probably. It would merely have to act as an endpoint.
All settings for output, DSP, EQ etc are already accessible through the WiiM Home app itself.
I suppose that's also the case with the Lumin & Audiolab...
Yup, just for that I hope they will consider adding it (direct play to USB dacs) in the future. Tidal used to support it until about 2 years ago and for some reason removed it.
I guess there wasn't really much reason to do so for Spotify until now. Back when I was using Volumio, it a Spotify integration in it's web GUI so it is definitely possible.
Another factor is probably that Spotify connect works very well already, as you said :)
Tidal lacks any integration with Google Assistant or Siri.
It also sucks at (doesn't seem to support) picking up when music is already streaming on a different device through Tidal Connect, which is pretty annoying.
Ethics aside, the overall user experience feels and looks very 2015.
Here you go ;) But seems like they've just re-confirmed it above. Sorry, I'm just a bit excited (no sign of losless in my app yet)
Here's hoping for a quick rollout: byebye Tidal!

They stated earlier in a response to my question that they had everything set and ready to go for when it would launch eventually. Need to do a deep search... 😀
I find this offering by deleyCON a perfectly adequate Toslink cable which comes in many different lengths. The connectors and the cable itself have just the right amount of ruggedness without being too bulky. The cable is pretty flexible as well...
