I understand and you have a good point there @Mr Ee. However, it would be fantastic to have all the streaming services including local resources in one place. Probably easier said than done but after my experience with Wiim, I think they have the talent to address it in the future.

I got the Ultra about 6 months ago, must give credit to Wiim for doing such a nice job. Love the app and the entire system is regularly updated which shows that the people behind Wiim are committed and passionate which is refreshing. I use Spotify but notice the Wiim app runs the Spotify app...

What streaming service do you use? - I really like the interface (UI and UX) of Spotify, hoping they will move to high res soon, at least 24/48.

My router is basic and old, I'll probably replace it with a modern gigabit switch. I don't have a rpi module or a mini-pc.
I guess I could get a 1TB USB3 mini-drive and plug it directly to the Wiim Ultra. Alternatively, I could get a 500MB SSD USB3 drive.

Yes, I meant like in the next 5 years I will be hard-pressed to hit 500GB leave alone 1TB in terms of my own experimental music files. Where I may go over 1TB is with movies.
