12V trigger between WiiM ultra and Vibelink Amp

Hello.
I have a Wi-Fi Ultra and a Wi-Fi Vibelink amp.
I've connected a 12V trigger cable to the Wi-Fi, and I wanted to know what the difference is between having it connected and not having it connected, as I haven't noticed any difference in the power settings.
Thank you.

Hi @Lucanorillo,

After 30 minutes with no input signal the WiiM Vibelink Amp will go into standby mode. As soon a signal is applied it will wake up again.

But if no signal is applied after 60 minutes in total, the Vibelink Amp will go into a sleep mode, consuming even less energy. The downside is that you have to press the power button on the back for ~2 seconds to wake it up again. Unless you use a trigger cable!

With the trigger cable in place the WiiM Ultra can wake up the Vibelink Amp from its sleep state without the need to press the button on the back (or switch it on through the WiiM Home app).

Hi, with my vibelink connected to the WiiM Ultra via the trigger cable, when I turn off the Ultra, the vibelink goes into standby mode (the input light is dimmed), but several times, after more than 60 minutes, I have found the vibelink amplifier in on mode and not in deep sleep mode.
I have no evidence of a power failure during the night, why does Vibelink wake up and then not automatically go back to standby or deep standby?

Thank you.

Emanuele

Does the LED turn off after another 60 minutes?

I have seen that a few times myself. I'm not sure the cause, but it could be that Ultra is occasionally starting up to check for updates.

Also, this is a special case, but if you are controlling Ultra with Alexa routine, Ultra may start up automatically.

Yes, the amp will wake up when the Ultra looks for updates and the amp stays on afterwards. I am about to raise a ticket with wiim about this issue.

Someone may have already mentioned this, but I have made a small and significant discovery.

When the WiiM app and the Vibelink amp are connected via Bluetooth, opening the app while the Vibelink is on standby (LED is dark) will activate the Vibelink and the LED will light up brightly.

This is an automatic activation by Bluetooth and has nothing to do with the trigger cable. Also, Vibelink will not activate when it is in sleep mode (LED is off).

This is a compromise, but if you want to turn off this auto-activation, you can deny the "nearby devices" permission to the WiiM app on your phone. Note, however that you will need to allow this permission when auto-updating Vibelink or re-pairing the Ultra's remote.

@WiiM Support , @WiiM Team, @RyanWithWiiM,

Is it per spec that the Vibelink LED glows green when the WHA starts up?

Currently, as long as Vibelink is on standby, it will start every time WHA is opened, and from there it will take another 60 minutes before it goes to sleep.

If this is normal behavior, one of the following measures might be better..

  • A toggle switch to enable/disable the connection to Vibelink on the WHA.
  • A configurable time between standby and sleep.

I also personally feel that the Vibelink device card is too large and gets in the way of other WiiM devices. For this reason, I have turned off permissions on nearby devices so that the Vibelink card is not visible.

Thank you.

Edit:
The video will be easier to understand than my incompetent explanation.

It actually seems to be related to some Alexa routines, although they are not related to Ultra.

When I ask Alexa (Echo show 5) to switch on the lights in my room, the vibelink switches on. When I switch them off, nothing happens.
Of course the Ultra does not turn on, only the Vibelink turns on.
If the Echo Show is switched off and the same voice command is used on the Echo Dot (ok, it's in another room), nothing happens.

This is definitely weird!

PS
I checked and the Echo Show is not connected to the Vibelink via bluetooth.

That is certainly weird. Are you using a smart tap?

Press and hold the power button on the back panel of the Vibelink for 2 seconds and the LED will turn off. What happens if you voice control it with the Echo show in this state?

Also, as mentioned earlier, could you try turning off the "nearby devices" permission in the WiiM app on the phone or turn off Bluetooth on the phone, and try voice control?

Hi, my suspicion is about the input signal detection for automatic power on. The smart device (a wifi sonoff switch) connected to Alexa sends a jamming signal that is somehow detected at the input and this turns the vibelink on from standby.

The same thing actually happens when I switch on the LED lights in the kitchen with the wall switch.

There must be some kind of interference at the input.

The vibelink is connected to the output of the Ultra with its cinch cables.

Is the input signal detector too sensitive?

When the amplifier is in deep sleep mode, it remains in that state and nothing happens.

I'm not sure details, so hoping the team can verify this issue.

Could you please submit a ticket through the feedback section of the WiiM app right after Vibelink is activated by Alexa?
The device logs will be sent. (The WiiM app and Vibelink must be connected via Bluetooth.)

Once you submit the ticket, please post the ticket number here.

I will test this with my Echo.

Thank you so much! I hope I did everything right in the ticket: 530964

Perhaps you are right.
I have tested it on several smart devices in my home and found no interference issues.

When the amplifier is in deep sleep mode, it remains in that state and nothing happens.

Thanks for testing.
Therefore, it is definitely not a trigger issue, but a Bluetooth issue.

Not sure if it is the sonoff switch or Vibelink, but I hope your problem is resolved.

@WiiM Team, @WiiM Support,
I would be happy to investigate Ticket: 530964 and post #6. Thanks.
