If you have amp or dac and sub and have them connected to a 12v trigger the playing starts right away but the equipment may need time to start up thus cutting the begning of playing.
This can be solved by having a setting for delay.

If you use the remote control to wake the WiiM up from sleep before actually starting playback, this will already avoid the problem you mentioned as in that scenario, the WiiM will initiate 12V signal prior to playback.

As a streamer it should work great from the app. I usually start playback from the app then stop it for a few tens of secongs then replay. Still misses a few seconds of the begining.
 
I actually smile when I start playing a track on my Ultra and only get the sub for a second or so before the trigger from the Ultra turns my amp on.

Then I just click back and start the track again.
