Adding the ‚Genre‘ info to the playback display

I‘ve just opened a request ticket for this.
Using MinimServer I could easily add the genre info to the track or album tag for display on the playback screen. But it does‘t look nice and makes the lines unnecessarily long. But there‘s ample space for an extra line both on iPhones (portait mode) and iPads (landscape mode). So why not?
Even though I‘m coming from DLNA streaming I see no reason why this should not also apply to streaming from any of the providers.

If there are equally minded folks out there it‘d be great if you also issued request tickets accordingly.

Surely, it would just be a nice-to-have feature, but an informative one too.
How would you group Freundeskreis? From listening I‘d have said Rap. But it‘s HipHop.
It‘d be good to see what the streaming providers say. And with my local music I could check the tagging on the fly during listening.

I agree. The only time I found it useful was to tag all of my wife's music with her name in the genre box, so that I can exclude it from my random mixes in LMS!

Oh and it made it easier for her to play her music when I'm not there.

OK, while some of you may listen to only a single Genre or have all your music memorized or have everything neatly playlisted, there are a number of us who would wish for a Genre implementation to complement Artist/Album/Artist-Album. That may be because our music libraries span significantly different musics, or just that we'd like to see WiiM Home App held to at least the Minimum Standard that almost all other Library Software provides.

Isn't it possible to choose music by Genre in the WiiM app? Anyway I thought this thread was about displaying the Genre on the playback screen not the ability to select music by Genre.

You‘re quite right. This is not about library indexing but about display during playback.
None the less, having selecting music by genre it would be nice to also have this as feedback on the playback screen.
