Air play working on WiiM Ultra

Hi All,

Long time lurker, decided to post now.
Has anybody noticed Air Play working on WiiM Ultra under ios26. Tried streaming directly from IPad Pro icons of Spotify and Radio Paradise, seems to work now.
Can anybody else confirm?

Interesting, just tried with old iPhone , no joy. Works from iPad selecting air play from swipe down option to ultra, working.
How to check if it uses Google cast or air play?

Likely Spotify Connect and not airplay.

Here’s my airplay speaker list - note the rectangular speaker icon which shows for airplay devices. You’ve got a volume type icon which I’ve seen showing against WiiM devices when you’re running AirConnect or one of its derivatives (e.g. shairtunes on Lyrion/LMS) which presents UPNP players like WiiM as airplay 1 targets. Do you have any such feature set up on your local network?

Easy to test. If you turn off your iPad and the music continue, it's not AirPlay.

Just tried that, streaming Radio Paradise app to WiiM , when shut down iPad , music stops. Is it possible it was enabled quietly?
Other iPads on older iOS can’t do the same.
Correction, iPad mini on iOS 18 something is also able to airplay RP to Ultra, albeit with sluggish response.

tried it for curiosity again. new ipad with ios 26 final release from today. no wiim in the list. only the ipad and the tv. what is airplay capable. no idea how you can cast to the wiim?

Mystery solved. I had LMS server running on network. When logged out option to air play disappeared.
So it was air playing to WiiM via LMS as mentioned before by Burnside, thanks BTW.
Thanks to all for help. Checking further both ultras are showing on LMS as endpoints.

It maybe a workaround option for airplay functionality for other users, albeit requiring Lyrion server running on on some fruit device or some such.

AirConnect is a package developed by philippe44 who is pretty well known in LMS circles for his 'bridge' plugins which allow the transfer of audio between different protocols. This particular bridge allows UPnP devices (like WiiM devices) to appear as Airplay 1 endpoints so may be of interest to those who want lossless CD quality transmission from Apple Music, or indeed for those who want a certain recent WiiM device (I'll let you guess which one ) to appear as an Airplay target. Just goes to show what a brilliant piece of software LMS was/is.
It is exactly what I was missing for easy streaming for other family members.
