Grrr... came to ask just this. I bought a Wiim Ultra for my son as a replacement for a Squeezebox. I specifically went for the Ultra as that was the only one that seemed to have the display and its own controller but... as it turns out, these are both completely useless for controlling the Squeezelight instance that connects to our Lyrion Music Server.

I don't want my son to have a phone or tablet in his bedroom at night, when he listens to music, so a seperate phone app is out of the question. I guess I just bought the wrong device for our usecase.

I still use lms and Squeezebox also have wiim ultra

Wouldn't say useless but you need phone app or pc, you can't use touchscreen like the squeezebox also the SB remote is better

I'd still with it though, with full HD support and room eq and presents .

Yes the Controller that came with the Duet can control the WiiM Ultra. Just select it as the player on the Controller.

What's wrong with a phone, just get basic one, lock it down, only have that app. Work out what version of android you need

If you can return the Ultra I believe Eversolo's offerings allow you to control LMS, so maybe look at those? I don't own one personally, so just going by what I've heard on the Lyrion forum.

Pretty sure my son would be able to find some way to get past any 'lock it down' safeguards I managed to add to the phone
