So this may be a question for Amazon, but I thought I would ask here as well. How do I turn off explicit lyric filtering on the Wiim products when using the Alexa interface on the voice remote? My daughter is unable to request songs using the voice remote that have an explicit rating(not always a bad thing but I would like to be able to turn it off on certain devices). The weird thing is this does not happen on any other Alexa devices in the house, only the Wiim devices (all three of them). Alexa (through the Wiim) says "I am sorry but I can't do that because this device isn't supported for kids". Again, probably a question for Amazon, but if anyone has run into this and found a way to control it I would love to know. Thanks!

Hi

I'm not sure if this will solve the problem, but please try it first.

[Alexa app] -> Settings -> Music and Podcast -> Block content containing inappropriate expressions -> Disabled
(Disable for both you and your family)

[Amazon Music app] -> Settings -> Inappropriate Expression Filter -> Disabled

# Section names are automatically translated from Japanese. The names may differ in your country's app.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. I have disabled content filtering for all family profiles in both the Alexa and Amazon Music Apps. Everywhere I have been able to find a setting including the Amazon Kids dashboard app. This is the only reason I thought about posting it here. It is only on Wiim devices that the filter seems to still be active. I have tried logging out and back into Alexa in the Wiim app for all the devices as well...

Could you please press the microphone button on your WiiM Remote and say, "Please unblock inappropriate content"

If Alexa responds with, "I'm allowing the blocking of songs containing inappropriate language," I guess parental controls are still enabled in the Alexa app.

As voice control works without issue on my WiiM, I don't think there are any restrictions from the WiiM device itself.

Also, if you haven't already tried it, please attempt to reboot your WiiM device. Disconnect the power cable, wait a moment, then reconnect it.

In the WiiM home app, under Amazon music settings, there’s a “block explicit songs” setting.

What music service are you using?

There’s a similar setting under “content and display” in the Spotify app that hopefully applies when Connect is being used.

Also, while WiiM devices can appear as an Alexa-enabled/echo device, not all features may be available. I’ve found settings around Amazon kids to be inconsistent and at times infuriating in the past even on echos…

Thank you for the suggestions, unfortunately I have already disabled content filtering in the Wiim app as well. I am using Amazon music as the service and, to my knowledge, disabled it there too (the setting is in multiple locations). I believe it is something specific to the way kids profiles are handled on the Wiim. I can play anything on the Wiim by requesting it from the Wiim remote or from a separate echo device. My daughter can request any content to play through the Wiim from an echo device, it is only when she requests from the Wiim remote that the response is "this device device is not supported for kids". (She can request non explicit songs through the Wiim remote though). Definitely a bit frustrating trying to find the missing link here, but I am becoming more confident that it is not me :-) .

I think it’s simply that WiiM devices don’t support Amazon kids profiles, same as they don’t support other echo features. You could raise a ticket with WiiM and ask them if they’d consider doing so, but it could well be the Amazon API they use simply doesn’t have the wherewithall.
