Alexa routine for Wiim Pro

Hello All,

I want to use the Wiim Pro’s 12v trigger, but my AV receiver lacks a trigger port. Has anyone successfully tried creating an Alexa routine where, when the Wiim device turns on or starts streaming, Alexa activates the smart plug where I have my receiver plugged into? I have created similar routines with other smart devices but I’m having problems creating a routine for Wiim Amp, as it is not listed as a smart device in the Alexa app.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you signed in to Alexa on the WiiM home app?
Tap the Alexa icon in the Browse menu, sign in, and your WiiM device will be listed in the Alexa app.

Also, please note that you must sign in to Alexa for each device. if you have a WiiM pro and a WiiM amp, open the browse screen after tapping the card for each device and sign in to Alexa.


As you can see, the device name appears at the top of the Alexa screen.

Being visible as an echo device in the Alexa app device page doesn’t necessarily mean it will appear under smart home in a routine - only devices which naturally trigger like motion detectors, temperature changes etc will appear there. A WiiM device turning on or starting to play music won’t act as an Alexa trigger.

Best you can do is have an Alexa routine that first turns on your receiver then plays music on your WiiM device when you ask it to.

Yes, I believe that the only operations that can be performed in a routine are stopping the music on the WiiM device and playing music. Therefore, within one routine you should include starting the WiiM music playback and turning on the receiver.

Thanks Burnside. I think you are correct. I can't have my Wiim device act as an Alexa trigger. I will just have to say to Alexa "Turn on receiver" before streaming music on my Wiim Pro (first world problems lol).

Which music streaming do you use?

For example, if you say 'music in the kitchen', you can create a routine to turn on the receiver and start playing music.
There is no need to create 2 routines.
