I have my music library on a Windows PC using JRIver Media Server. I usually push music from the PC to my Pro using DLNA. But, there are some instances where I would like to be able to play using WHA on my Samsung phone.

JRIver provides a DLNA server and I can see and play from that with WHA on a WIndows PC. But WHA on my Samsung phone does not see the JRiver DLNA server on the PC. Can WHA on Android connect to that DLNA server? Do I need something else to made this work or is it some sort of user error. The phone and the PC are on the same network.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

HiFi-Cast, Bubble UPnP, UAPP, neutron...
All chargeable, but can be used with every DLNA server.

I'm not sure if the SamsungMusic app can also see the Server, used to be possible. Download it from the Galaxy Store and check it 😉

Edit: Normally WHA should also see the DLNA-Server, I've no experience with JRiver... Foobar works fine.

And WHA now sees the music. I did not know I needed a separate DLNA server on the phone. Thanks.

I seemed to need it on Android, not on WIndows.
I'm pretty sure the timing (installation and discovery) was just a coincidence, but uninstall/force stop and try again - though I would recommend it over the WHA.

Thanks, but I tried for over an hour before enabling Bubble. Once I enabled it, it worked. Not sure why. But it works now.

Out of interest what exactly did you enable?
In a default install it's a control point but it does has server and renderer capabilities (when enabled).

I went into the Playstore and looked for Bubble and found BubbleUpnP for DLNA/Chromecast. It said it was already installed. I opened it, but it said it was installed but not enabled. I enabled it. Unfortunately, it is not in English so I cannot do much with it, but it seems to work for my purposes. I have used it for years on Windows.

EDIT : Found the Language setting. Now in English

To the best of my knowledge there's no such thing as an Android app being "installed but not enabled". It must have been something else that you enabled, like the server, as suggested by @simbun .

Also, the BubbleUPnP app is available for Android only. There is no Windows version. There is a Windows version of the server:

Sorry for being imprecise.

The app came up and there was a button that said Enable, so I hit it. The app did not start until I did that.

I have used the Server on WIndows for years.

In any case, it works.
