WiiM Home DLNA Connection Issue

Hi! I am new to the WiiM and the Beta version of the WiiM Home app running on Windows. I have a PC that I have my music files on acting as my music server, hardwired to my network. I have enabled Media sharing on it, made sure file and print sharing is on. The issue is, I installed the beta version of the WiiM Home app on the server itself and also on my work laptop, which is also hardwired to the same network, so I could use the work laptop to control music while I am working. I use remote desktop to connect to my server and it works flawlessly so I know the two see each other. When I try and use the WiiM Home app on the work laptop, it will not see my DLNA server when I select Home Music Server. I can add the music folder under My Music and it maps to it and I can see all my music files but I cannot use the Home Music Server option. What is weird, is if I open the WiiM Home app on the server, it sees both it's own DLNA server and my work laptop media (I turned on media sharing to test) through the Home Music Server option. Also, my cell phone sees both PCs and I can see all my music on the music server. I have tried everything to fix the issue but am at a loss. Anyone have issues like this that can help me?

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I use a different DLNA server app for the music files I keep on another machine, so this might not be helpful, as I haven't tried it myself ....

In "My Music" (the first screen that shows when you start up the WiiM Home app), there's a gear wheel icon over on the top right that will take you to My Music settings. There, you can see a toggle to turn the app's DLNA server function on/off. Have you already tried that?

Hi ProficyOne,

Please send us a feedback ticket through the WiiM Home App by navigating to Settings > Feedback. Our engineers will investigate the issue for you.

In the meantime, if you're using a VPN connection on your work laptop, try disabling it and see if that resolves the problem. Let us know how it goes!

Yes, it is on. I think I figured out the issue. I found that my VPN was killing my network connection when it was turned off so that is why I couldn't see my DLNA server. Then other issue is, when I could see it, none of my music was showing up. Found out that you have to run Window's Media Player and rescan my files in order for them to show up in WiiM Home.
