Can we have an Android TV and Google TV app to display now playing information? I have sideloaded Wiim Home apk to Google TV but it will not display the app correctly

I see this as the best option to connect a display to the Wiim streamers to have "now playing" and album art.

I can get and use an Android 10" tablet running Wiim Home, but it will look better on a bigger screen, and also I already have a TV.

It sounds like you really want to improve the visual display for Wiim streamers. The display issue is most likely due to Wiim Home not being optimized for Google TV, which is why it's crashing.

A possible workaround is to try casting. If Wiim Home supports Chromecast or similar, you can simply cast your tablet to your TV. This will help display playback information and album art on the big screen.

Another option is to use your tablet as your primary device, although it may not be as convenient as a TV. If you already have a 10-inch tablet, this might be a good temporary solution until an official Android TV or Google TV app comes out.

A few years ago I would have attempted the various Linux-based approaches to display a Now Playing screen on a TV/monitor, but with advancing years and being spoilt by Android install-and-go apps, I just can't get the oomph to tackle terminal battles again — even navigating something like https://google-store.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html feels like too much effort these days.
An Android TV or Google TV app would be ideal for displaying now playing info and album art from Wiim streamers. Sideloading the Wiim Home APK doesn’t work properly because it’s not optimized for TV interfaces. A dedicated TV app would provide a better experience, especially if you already have a large screen. Using a 10" tablet is a workable alternative, but a proper app for TV would look much better and be more convenient. This is a great feature request and would make the setup more seamless for users wanting a display connected to their Wii device.

Yeah, I guess doing a forum search or reading the forum announcements is something only I do ;)😂

A search in the Forum or on Google Play would have shown you that it exists.

This thread is 2 years old.
