Audio pro A10 mkii wiim edition - volume toggle request

Hello, I recently purchased a pair of A10 mkii Wiim edition speakers for my Kitchen. After setting them up and combining them as seperate Left/Right channels in the wiim app I noticed that if you use the physical volume up/down button on one of the speakers it only controls that individual speaker rather than the pair (like a master volume). It would be very useful while cooking dinner, etc to be able to quickly lower the volume of both speakers evenly with one of the physical volume buttons in the room instead of having to unlock your phone and use the app.

During discussion in the new wiim edition speaker thread there are others that feel they'd still like to be able to control each speakers volume individually so I think adding a toggle switch in the app to control how the physical volume buttons work (seperate/combined) would work for everyone.

Thank you,

Mark

I don't know why you would have one on 2 and the other on 10, but I would adjust them so they were similar, but in your case, I would stand in the middle, and adjust one with each hand. I have previously used a pair of RIVA speakers in L & R mode. and they were approximately 3' apart.
Dude, I don't know if you understand what i'm saying but people don't adjust volume for a stereo pair (two speakers) individually.... I'm mean unless you have some hearing issues or some weird, extra facey setup I guess???...

If one has a stereo pair of speakers (like in the car) you would control the volume for both speaker with ONE knob, correct?

So If I have two stereo SMART speakers sitting on top of a cabinet, why the heck would I go to each speaker to adjust the volume for both individually, that's insane...

" I would stand in the middle, and adjust one with each hand" Really??

Am I missing something here folks???

Can't you set both speakers to the same and then control the volume with them grouped by the app?
I think that is how the R/L settings are supposed to work.

I can see where you’re coming from but you can group them in the WiiM app and use the group volume there, or you can submit a feature request to WiiM to ask that they offer the option for the physical volume buttons to control the volume of a group or stereo pair. They’re normally pretty open to such suggestions, particularly now that they have introduced persistent groups.

Even though the ability to group WiiM devices in a stereo pair has been there since day one (for three years or more), I equally have to say yours is the first time I’ve heard any complaints of this nature…

Yes, the app (Audi Pro app) does control them together. But not everyone always wants to whip out the phone to fine tune, much easier and logical to physically adjust at the speaker.

If at all possible I think WiiM will fix that if you raise a enhancement request via the feedback in the WiiM Home App.

If it is a WiiM edition, why do you use the Audi pro app?

I’ve raised a feature request to give users the option over group volume control. I suggest if you require this, you do so too as the more who do, the better the chance WiiM will offer the feature.

Well honestly I would not consider this a WiiM problem, remember these are the A10's non WiiM. I have not attempted to pair the WiiM Edition A10's I have, they are already set up elsewhere.

But i'm having trouble understanding why the physical button thing seems alien to folks.

With a pair of Sonos ones paired together, each speaker (left & right) is physically identical, both obviously have volume controls. If I walk up and adjust the volume on the left speaker it adjusts for both. Same if I did this with the right speaker, both volumes adjust... How could you possibly balance them if you had to do them individually (Stereo pair, no visual indicators)?

I can not think of this working another way, lol....

The audio pro speakers use Linkplay modules just like WiiM devices do - you can view WiiM as the retail arm of Linkplay who normally just provide such modules to third parties for inclusion in their products. The Audio Pro app and firmware were likely provided by Linkplay, although I’m not 100% sure who maintains them.

Maybe because not many WiiM users use the physical volume buttons on their devices as most are connected to external DACs, Amps etc. Maybe they make more use of the physical volume knobs on the amp, amp pro and Ultra, but all my devices it on a shelf several meters away and I seldom touch them, preferring to use my iPad for control.

I understand where you’re coming from so do as I did and submit a feature request ;)
