B&W PX connected to USB - incredible detail but not "musical"

I have a pair of B&W PX headphones, bought them when I travelled a lot for my work but never really used them at home.

I connected them to the Ultra by a USB cable, so using the headphones onboard DAC.

The detail was incredible, I could pick out individual lyrics that I had never heard before, very clear and distinct.

However, it sounded completely flat and lifeless, not at all a "musical" sound.

Very disappointing!

Not blaming the Ultra, it's the B&W's that cost nearly the same as the Ultra that are letting themselves down.

It's such a strange sound, never really heard anything like it.

Not sure what was going on yesterday?

Just tried them again and they sound exactly how I expected them to.

May be a software glich in the headphones?
