Backward skipping problem playing ABC radio stream.

I have been streaming ABC RADIO NATIONAL (Australian public radio) from TuneIn. It is mostly spoken word / current affairs material. I am getting occasional skips backwards by about 15-30 seconds. At each skip I hear a couple of sentences repeated and then it continues on until the next time. I can detect no pattern but it skips maybe 5 or more times each hour. I don't detect anything like this on any other material.

There are no "pops" or "crackles" when the skip occurs, it is very smooth and easy to miss unless listening carefully.

These 15-30 second skips must accumulate over time but I can't hear anything that sounds like is re-synchronising.

I'm not sure where to look to debug this. Presumably it could be a problem with my wiim (wiim amp) or with TuneIn or with the original source material from the ABC?

Any suggestions?

I recommend submitting a ticket via the feedback section in the WiiM app.
(WiiM home > More > Feedback)

Your device logs will be sent, which will help resolve the issue.

I have this issue with several ABC radio streams using a Wiim Pro. Have done some troubleshooting.
It happens:
  • When streaming via TuneIn or Vradio apps and casting these to the Wiim
  • When controlling the TuneIn or Vtuner apps within the Wiim
It doesn't happen:
  • When just using the ABC listen app on my device or bluetoothing to the same amp the Wiim is connected to
  • On any other stream I have tried, radio or music, cast to the Wiim or controlled within the Wiim
The last point makes me think it's a problem with the ABC streams. I submitted a ticket to them but they claim they can't find the problem. Not sure they've tested on a Wiim.

Recommend you also submit a ticket to the ABC and quote my ticket number - 757369

N.B. Also doesn't happen when just listening on the TuneIn app on my device or bluetoothing to the amp.

The Ticket ID you provided appears to be incorrect. Could you please verify the correct ID, or reproduce the issue and send us a new feedback report?

How? where? can I submit a ticket to the ABC? I'd love to know how the ABC Listen web page can direct the sound to one of my Wiims?

If you prefer using that webpage rather than the Tunein or vTuner links, if you're using it on a PC you can Chromecast your audio to a compatible WiiM device using Chromecast from the Chrome browser, or if you're using an iOS device you can AirPlay the audio to a WiiM device that supports AirPlay.

I understand there's also an ABC Listen app (which I can't access here in the uk), but it might have similar means to cast its audio to a WiiM device - look for a speaker or cast icon in the app if it has such.
