This is how you would normally set it up.

  1. Connect the Ultra's sub out to the sub's LFE input with RCA cables.
  2. Set the sub crossover to maximum.
  3. Set the sub's phase to 0 degrees.
  4. Set the volume of the sub to 50%. (Adjust as needed.)
  5. Open the subwoofer settings in the WiiM app and turn on the subwoofer.
  6. Turn on the Ultra, switch to the input you want to use, and turn the volume down.
  7. Turn on the sub's power (or auto standby).
  8. Play test music.
  9. Adjust volume, crossover, phase and delay in the subwoofer settings in the WiiM app.

Does your amplifier or receiver have any bass management? If not, you could get bass management by connecting your subwoofer via the LFE connection on the subwoofer and the sub out on the Ultra. Then you would turn sub out On on the Ultra. If you have a home theater receiver... 5.1, 7.2 etc... you can connect the subwoofer to your receiver subwoofer out and use its bass management which may be better than the bass management on the Ultra. If your receiver has pre out connections and you don't need bass management you can connect the pre-outs on your receiver to your subwoofer L & R RCA inputs. I would suggest trying different options. Turn off your subwoofer and your amplifier to change the connections is also my suggestion

Hello. Thought maybe you could help. I have a 7db dip around 40-60hz in my room (11*14 feet), even though my speakers on paper go down as 37hz. RC won’t help much. So was considering a sub, heard many good reviews about REL subs, but they recommend to use their high level connections. The question is, will the crossover function in the Wiim app work with this type of connection since the sub and speakers are on the same line of connection this way? Thanks

Are you using iOS or android? You can fix that by choosing smoothing set at 1/3 and flat curve.

Take everything REL say about connecting subwoofers with a large pinch of salt 😃

tbh if you are listening to movie soundtracks you should have bought a AVR. Those will decode and downmix DD/DTS/DTS HD/Dolby HD/Atmos mixes properly, and also receive the .1 LFE channel.

but therefore you need to toggle both option on the bottom of the 'subwoofer' section in the wiim ultra app, right ?
if you want to let an other device do the bass management.

@Jamp7 suggested to let another device do bass management completely. That means no connection between WiiM Ultra and sub at all.

In this case you just disable the subwoofer altogether in the WiiM Home app. No need to deal with "mains output bass" and "subwoofer bypass mode".

I will try that tomorrow. So youre saying you can disable the subwoofer in the ultra app, then the svs app can do it all?
I have to say now i enabled 'bypass subwoofer' and then on the svs app turned off lfe mode and set the crossover there aswell. My system sounds amazing now.

If you disable the subwoofer in the app then you would need to connect the subwoofer to your amplifier otherwise it won't get any signal at all from the Ultra.
