Blurry album art from NAS

Hi,

I am having trouble with extremely bad quality album art playing from my NAS. NAS is actually a SSD connected directly to my Asus router and then I pretty much followed the instructions in the link below.

I never had this problem using my previous streamer and their native app, Lindemann Limetree. I also tried yesterday using Mcconect and you can se and compare the pictures yourself.

Anyone else hade this problem and know how to fix it?

I've already raised a ticket for the track artist problem so your only option is to do the same for the album artwork issue.

You could look at other servers that don't have this issue (because they only serve the original artwork) e.g. MinimServer, but without knowing exactly how you're using Jriver I can't say what's suitable.

Hi Team,

Regarding the JRiver album resolution issue, we have identified the root cause and it will be fixed in our next app release.

Additionally, our player now supports obtaining album art from embedded FLAC files. This feature will be included in the firmware update scheduled for mid-July. Stay tuned!

Just to temper expectations (mainly @Fralle), given this is coming as a firmware update am I right in thinking this will only address low resolution artwork on the Now Playing screen and not the track listing screen?

I'm hoping this to be the case, as the image displayed in the header section of a track listing should be the same image that was presented in the album listing (apart from resolution where available). I have raised this before.

So just to be clear. Does this mean the problem I described will be fixed?

Hi Fralle,

Can you please check the latest WiiM Home app update on your JRiver server? It addresses the blurry album art issue. If the problem persists, kindly send us a ticket so we can investigate further. Thank you for your assistance and patience.

What exactly do you mean by Jriver server? To my knowledge I have never used Jriver.

It i still just as blurry for me as when I started this thread. And like I said then my setup is SSD directly to my Asus router.

You promised back then to create an identical setup and fix it that way. Don't really know where Jriver came from.

The fix for your issue requires a firmware update as it's pulling the image from the file during playback. This change only effects the now playing screen.

Hi Fralle,

I apologize for the confusion with the JRiver server. I have escalated this issue to our engineering team. Please stay tuned for further updates. Thank you for your patience!

Does it not require a firmware update? I'm currently on beta firmware but I haven't seen release notes for such an update.

Could you please also inform the engineering team of the missing track artist fix in this release?

Hi Simbun,

The JRiver issue fix only involves updating the app. However, if the issue persists, please update your device to the latest official firmware and see if it works. If not, please kindly send us a ticket so we can address this issue shortly. Thank you!

Sorry for any confusion, but I was referring to the embedded artwork issue (in replying to your reply to @Fralle). In a previous post (see below) you said that the embedded artwork fix required a firmware update, is that still the case, and if so has that firmware update been released yet?

I don't believe it has so @Fralle needs to wait for the firmware update before raising another ticket.

I just did the update and it does indeed fix the now playing screen so it is not blurry anymore. But the album art in the track selection section is still just as blurry. Still a major improvement at least.

Not sure if this is part of the above issue..
I have been adding a lot of cover art as embedded in FLAC files. This is displaying fine on the track listing within an album and the now playing screen. But, for some artists, in the artist selection screen, no cover art is displayed

Thx

It's not related.
What server are you using? Have you tried browsing your media server using BubbleUPnP or mconnect, and if so is it too missing artwork?

I use JRiver as the server
I have tried VLC in iPhone to browse the library and all the cover art shows in the artist selection screen
