Can Wiim Amps pick out surround l/r from HDMI arc?

tl;dr: hdmi earc-> Wiim amp: can it just output surround l/r channels, and not generic left-right?

I guess what I want is it to just be the follower, with no Wiim amp as leader?

Plan is to get 2 in-ceiling speakers for listening to music. Wiim Amp can power those, great.

Oh but let's also put a TV in that room (Samsung S90F, if it matters). Sound is crappy on the TV, though, so let's buy a sound bar, say JBL SB595, which is 3.1.2, is super cheap at Costco. Great. Life is good.

Oh but wouldn't it be even better if the 2 in-ceiling speakers joined in as l/r surrounds?

Suppose I get an HDMI splitter:
earc -> splitter -> soundbar
also splitter -> Wiim Amp ultra -> pick out only l/r surround channels ->passive in-ceiling speakers

Does it do this? Thanks!

Hi
I'm still not entirely clear on what you wish to achieve, but please note that the WiiM's HDMI ARC can't output audio.

The following three models can be used as the leader device for Wireless Dolby 5.1:

WiiM Amp Pro
WiiM Amp Ultra
WiiM Ultra

By designating one of these as the leader and linking the WiiM Amp as a follower, you can output surround sound from the WiiM Amp to your speakers. (I think surround sound can also be output via USB, though I haven't tested this.)

The WiiM HDMI doesn't support eARC.

Wireless Dolby requires at least two WiiM devices.
I'm afraid I couldn't understand what role a splitter would play here.

The point of the splitter is that with a splitter you could set up two completely separate 5.1 audio systems, right? That would probably be silly but you could do it right?

So my plan would be one of the systems will be the sound bar (no surround channel), and the other would be the amp driving my rear speakers just for the surround channel.

I think there's a box that takes HDMI in and outputs 6 RCA for the 5.1. I wonder if that would work; take just the surround output from that to the wiim amp.

Even if this is possible, I think you will run into major issues getting the front and back synchronized in time.
