I just started with my new WiiM Pro Plus streamer. I'm trying to connect to existing SMB shares on my home network but cannot. I have factory reset the streamer and it is on the Wi Fi network ok. When I try to add a share from the Home app it simply says 'connection failed'.
- WiiM pro plus running Firmware 4.8.712055 (which seems like a beta release?). My unit is an ex store demo
- I've tried the hostname and IP address options ex. \\openmediavault\New_Music
- these are existing SMB shares that I can access from my windows 10 PCs and from my DVD player
- the shares don't require a username or password
- My media server is 'Openmediavault'. The shared folders are configured as "guest allowed" (user or PW not mandatory). I'm not seeing anything in the server logs that indicates a problem.
- I do have other streaming services configured on the WiiM and they work ok

Any guidance or help would be appreciated

ok thanks very much for the guidance. I think its all sorted out now. I had to append 'local' on the host name 'openmediavault.local' AND I had to create a user and gave that user access to my share. IMO the app is a bit misleading as the user and PW fields are optional even though it seems to be a mandatory requirement of the WiiM.

As a foot note once I had access to my shares I ran into this problem. Thus I ended up using the IP address of my server rather than openmediavault.local . A bit of a journey but I'm all set

Have you tried using:

//openmediavault/New_Music

The WiiM is not running Windows, so it's using standard URL format.

I can't get it to work either, trying to access my Mac mini from the Wiim via macOS file sharing.

Edit: seems one has to enable a user under Windows file sharing, now it works.
