When I chain my Pro with my mini I can only stream at 44.1 kilohertz but if I separate them I can stream at higher resolutions

I was told today by WiiM that it is a software gap that is being worked on. I wonder if they understand that it is the main reason many people buy the product? I am compelled to write a google review outlining the limitation to warn others. That said, the closest product on the market is Sonos capability to do 24/48 multi-room. I just really dislike Sonos focus on speakers over components and their component streamer dacs don't sound that good.

You really think the main reason people are buying WiiM is for 24/192 multi room playback? How many of those people could honestly tell the difference? I have some sympathy with the argument that if you’re sitting down focusing on the music that you might want to have it at the highest resolution (again, I’d debate whether many could hear the difference), but when you’re playing music in multi room “party mode” wandering from room to room, 24/48 is arguably more than sufficient. Again, I won’t deny some come to hi res music chasing ever higher numbers, but most soon realise that the quality of the source recording matters much more than the numbers on a screen.

It’s actually 16/44.1 in multi-room on the WiiM . The unit displays source resolution not what WiiM is outputting. So for multiroom my Chromecast Audio at 24/96 for $35 beats any of the WiiM for mult-room playing any source. The higher resolution is obviously better with classical and acoustic jazz and classical guitar. I majored in recording technology snd can tell the diff between the 96 and 192 res because I can hear what the mic placement was in the 192 res and the 96 it’s just like being in the same room of the performer but not as intimate. I listen on studio monitors so it’s very transparent. Since it’s a software limit hoping WiiM will resolve it but it doesn’t seem like a priority until people go to sonos for 24/48 multi room.

The compromise with Chromecast is lack of gapless playback which many can't tolerate (self included).

If you really want HiRes Multi-Room with gapless use Lyrion. Suddenly your software limited WiiM's can (bandwidth permitting) cope with 24/192 in a group player situation.
