I have a WiiM amp and largely use it with Chromecast. I have it set as the default audio device for Google Home Display. Up until a while ago, when I asked Google to play something on Spotify it would tell me it was going to play it on the WiiM amp, and it did. Now it tells me it is going to play it on the WiiM amp, and doesn't. If I tell it not to use the WiiM amp as default, it plays on the display, and I can go into the list of devices available and add the WiiM amp, and it plays fine.
Any thoughts on what is going wrong? BTW, the WiiM amp uses a wired internet connection, and I have the latest firmware on all devices.

Think I read recently that if you add the WiiM device to your favourite devices in the Google home app that it’ll restore Google assistant voice control.

In that case, raise a ticket to WiiM thru the more/feedback section in the app after it fails so they can examine your device logs. Screenshots of the Google Home app device pages might help too

Started documenting all my settings with screenshots to do just this. When I started recording my interaction with the Google Home display, it worked! I noticed the WiiM amp was not in standby mode. I waited for it to go into standby, and it stopped working. I opened the app and queried the amp, and tried again. It worked? Clearly something to do with the amp not waking from standby mode.

Worth reporting that I’d say

Response for WiiM support. Not a good response for my wife with mobility issues.

"Sorry, by design, once the device enters standby mode, no connections can be made.

Best regards,
WiiM Support"

They need a "Standby - Never" option.

If you use the beta desktop WiiM Home app on PC/MAC, you'll find that's got a "never" standby option for the Amp that for some reason the mobile apps don't have.

Worked like a charm. You're a lifesaver! I hope they don't do any firmware updates that negate this option. Still don't know why they don't have some kind of "Wake On LAN" option.

Not being nit picky (ok I kinda am) but what is being described is not chromecast. I thought chromecast was sending video or audio to a chromecast enabled device. Verbal control is not chromecast.
