Yes I di agree, it just nice to think you are getting the best from the equipment, I went gor the Brick wall filter, which is described as for Users seeking maximum accuracy and detail, especially in digital music where precise reproduction is prioritized. If you are enjoying the sound that comes out of it, don't worry about it
I spent a long time playing with this sort of stuff many years ago now, I just hook up an amp I like to some speakers I like, and let the WiiM provide nice tunes
A brick wall filter creates pre-ringing - distortions somewhat below the filter frequency. In fact one of the main arguments for using higher sample rates (like 96/192 KHz) is to move that ringing outside the audible range. Some people hear that ringing, many people do not. But, I think the description as being the most precise is trying to minimize that effect. Most of the other filters create less pre-ringing.Yes I di agree, it just nice to think you are getting the best from the equipment, I went gor the Brick wall filter, which is described as for Users seeking maximum accuracy and detail, especially in digital music where precise reproduction is prioritized.
Pro Plus also has DAC filters. Are these filters only on the Ultra?
Interesting. Thanks.Pro Plus also has DAC filters.
See here https://faq.wiimhome.com/en/support...ter-types-of-akm-4493seq-dac-on-wiim-pro-plusInteresting. Thanks.
Very cool. I only have the amp so I don’t think I can do this.
Strangely, the amp pro doesn't have the filter options despite having the same chip as the ultra.Pro Plus also has DAC filters.
Neither does the original WiiM Amp. I couldn't hear any difference between the filters on my Topping E30 though.Strangely, the amp pro doesn't have the filter options despite having the same chip as the ultra.
Maybe it'll come with time, as the ultra didn't have filters at the beginning.
Edit: I raised a ticket for this a while ago.
