Hi All!
I’m just starting with HIFI home after I bought Volvo with Bower and Wilkins set up, decided that I want something more similar quality at home as well😂

Idea is to buy Wiim Ultra and connect it to smart TV (Sony android), buy some nice looking Vintage amp or receiver and some bookshelf speakers, maybe later add subwoofer if necessary.

Can anyone please explain if it is possible to make very simple control of the system with some vintage amp or receiver (for example yamaha ca1010 or Marantz 1060 or similar). I mean that it would be easy to start and connect even for my wife which can only connect to JBL Charge via BT and stream from spotify or internet radio?😂
I’m thinking to buy some smart wall socket which could let power from the app for whole audio system, that it would not be needed to turn on anything manually and just set system as it should be at once. Will she be able to just turn on system, connect to Wiim via BT and play Spotify? Will sound control work via phone buttons(iphone 15 pro) or will need to go to dedicated Wiim app and only control from there?

Also side question regarding samrt tv connected via earc. If I turn on TV and system is on, will it automatically switch to tv audio stream? Will it be possible to control sound with tv remote? What if sound system is turned off, will TV integrated speakers still work?

Maybe can also advice which vintage amps to look for? Exact models or at least functions which will be needed for such set up. Or maybe I better should look some new amp and sacrifice lovely vintage looks?

Sorry in advance if some questions looks stupid, as I said just starting😂

Hi @hgo58
So Warferdale option not possible to order here in LT, even tho some online shops was showing them.

Went today to local shop to test Klipsch, I liked them, but top sound quality wasn't there to be honest, looks like they are made to produce a lot of base and somehow these tweeters seems more screaming, like created for electronic/hyphop type music. And these speakers already had some technical issues with connections not by single person..

But the guy in the shop also recommended to check Acoustic energy AE1 active, which sounded much better. I guess their combo with subwoofer will be ideal in the future, so will go for them.

But that guy told that he tried these speakers on Wiim ultra and he would better recommend to use Bluesound node n130 which is like 200 euro more expensive. I still would like to have Wiim functionality better, so maybe best solution would be some external DAC for better sound? Any model you could recommend?
One of the reasons I recommend the Wharfedale Diamond Active speakers is that they have their own DAC, DSP and Amp in each speaker perfectly adapted to the speaker units. They will sound the same with any good preamp.

For some reason there are not many speakers configured like that.

Only one I have heard is "DALI RUBICON 6 C" and they are very good, but the price tag is too high for me.

You think it should sound at least similar..? :) In worst case, if I will not like it, will it be easy to add that DAC? What money good DAC might cost to which I could add these speakers and subwoofer?

Does he sell both, or just the bluesound? :)
i.e. no way for you to compare yourself?

I used to have a n130, quite some time ago now though. Didn't think it was anything special - used to use the dac in my Marantz pm6006 instead hence I sold the n130 to fund 3 wiims.
You can add pretty much any dac you like later if you want to.

Bluesound are over-priced and Under-specified compared to the Wiims.

Guys, maybe someone can recommend what subwoofer to search for my set? Wiim ultra+Aqoustic Energy AE1 Active?

As i understand it should be quite accurate with these speakers, room 42m2, will need to stand near wall, so with front facing speaker i guess. How it looks will be also important for my wife, other wise will be banned:)
