Deezer Deezer won't play from Wiim home app

No, I'm expecting Deezer users to put pressure on Deezer as well as WiiM. It's what I'd personally do but ymmv 🤷‍♂️
again, i hope Wiim have some official channels of communication with Deezer...if not, Wiim users are in deep trouble...

users feedback might help, but some hierarchy of communication is a real thing...did wiim contacted deezer at all? what's wrong? they don't answer? is it about money/licensing? is there any time frame for solving problem? did wiim refuse to pay more eventually? did wiim gave up regarding deezer? we have every right to know...

what if chromecast stop working tommorow? ask users to send letters of protest to google?

Apologies for the inconvenience. This issue is related to an update toDeezer's APl. We have contacted our API provider and are waiting for Deezer to resolve the problem.
Any update on this?
Still very much a problem unfortunately :(

- Playback stops randomly or never starts
- Tracks in playlists are skipped randomly
It's infuriating!

I have logged a support case with Deezer

i hope i am wrong but i think we can kiss goodbye deezer on wiim...i can't see how it is several weeks unsolved problem...luckily, i kept 2 chromecast audio dongles and i am going to use them again and forget about dedicated streamers...if one service fall off one after another i can't see the point...

Maybe there is hope. There's a new firmware rolling now on Wiim Ultra and this is from description:

& Streaming Services:
  1. TIDAL Connect: Upgraded SDK to resolve unexpected playback interruptions.
  2. Soundtrack: Updated SDK for improved playback stability and performance.
  3. TuneIn: Fixed playback issues for certain stations and improved resume behavior after long pauses.
  4. Deezer: Fixed unexpected playback interruptions.

You can also Chromecast to a WiiM device.

Chromecasting to the WiiM is also having similar issues.
I have an old google chromecast, which I have also been trying, also exhibiting the same issues.

if there is no joy soon, I'll be looking to change streaming provider, as the WiiM is the single biggest music streaming upgrade that I have made in the last few years.

Nothing yet for the WiiM Pro, but hopefully within a few days

listening through chromecast last night on wiim and it works fine...i did try chromecast dongle today just in case, and it works fine as well...fingers crossed...

Surely new firmware can't fix this problem,
whole previous month they blamed Deezer API for it, right?
Regarding Chromecast, well you can cast everything from phone with it, but that is simply inadequate replacement for proper service.

The two things can both be true - if there are changes to be made because of the Deezer api, then new firmware could well be needed.

Inadequate in what manner? You could equally ask why Deezer don't have their own casting mechanism, comparable to Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz Connect and Amazon Music Alexacast. Their now discontinued connect mechanism was merely a means of controlling another instance of the Deezer app, in no way comparable to their competitors' offerings.

Silence from wiim team is telling me it is not (just) about API.
They could have replied here, hey guys Deezer fixed problem, now we need new firmware because of that, but no, complete silence, and this is not some small unimportant bug.

About cast, to play flow, I have to pick up my phone, unlock it, start Deezer, play flow, activate cast, pick wiim device, wait about 10 sec with loading circle, and then music starts.
On WIM i press number 3 on remote and flow starts immediately.
I change input, then start flow, and it plays on my phone again, have to cast again...
This is not inadequate to you?

If you search this forum you will find quite a number of users who never use the WiiM Home App but always just the native streaming app (through any casting protocol, including Googlecast).

I'm not one of them, but some have even requested to limit the WiiM Home App to a configuration app.

As long as we do not know the contracts between streaming services like Deezer and Link play we don't know what and what they can say on the public forum or not.

hello,
Is there a firmware update on the way?
Wiim Home do not work properly with Deezer API since the end of february.
I hope next update will fix the issue.

1. we are working together to solve the problem...
2. we lost deezer, sorry...

it's not that hard...

Reading this thread makes me chuckle. I worked in sw support and QA for years. End users opening tickets for issues gets attention. When ticket volume goes above the typical level, management starts asking questions about the cause of the increase. When they learn it's about the same issue they will then lean on those responsible for resolving the root cause. If I was a Deezer subscriber and accessed it via a WiiM device both companies would get a ticket from me.

I've opened a ticket on the Deezer side this morning. Waiting for their answer. I'll let you know asap.
It's been a week since I logged a support case with Deezer and so far all I have gotten is the automated reply... I feel like Deezer is falling apart :(
