Deezer Deezer won't play from Wiim home app

I hope you are aware that this is not just a WiiM issue. Deezer has updated their API without making it backward compatible and without informing (all) the streaming device companies.

On top of that there is a specific issue today.

Yes I'm aware. This is two months issue not from yesterday. Had no problem listening on PC Deezer app today on my laptop. I bought the product and it's not working and it takes a long time to fix the issue.

Meanwhile, Sonos S1 Connect that is 10 years old had no problems streaming....

Is that Sonos working now?

I really don't know for this streaming issue from yesterday. But years streaming without any problems...
The API was only changed recently and unrelated to the outage yesterday so maybe that Sonos doesn't work with the new API.

Ok guys listen... the problem is still here. You can't sell something and expect buyers to know what is API and it can change and it can be for months before you fix it.

It's a streamer and I don't need new VU meters graphics and bunch of new stuff that is useless if I can't play on something that says it works with

Have a moan at Deezer as well then. They shouldn't introduce a breaking change to the API until their partners have made the necessary changes.

Same issues : Deezer works, or not. Songs are played, or stop. Albums can't be played entirely. Everything works fine on Deezer app today, same yesterday. I can listen to my playlists in my 8 year old car. I have a wiim speaker and a wiim amp and it was sold as compatible with Deezer. I don't really care about the reasons why it isn't. The question is : are wiim products fully compatible with Deezer or not ?

Man, you missed the point. Or you are on Wiim paycheck. You enter in store, buy something, it says it support Deezer, the thing doesnt work, you cant fix it for 2+ months...

Have a look at comment #20

The issue is systemic and affects a wide range of third-party streaming devices and apps, not just Sonos or WiiM. Deezer’s focus appears to be on its own app, leaving many users and developers without a stable way to stream on other platforms.

And have a look at the date then on comment #20... are you still waiting?

You missed the point, the issue is Deezer's. I do agree it shouldn't take this long but the urgent DLNA alternative to Airplay has taken a lot longer than that.

So... WiiM is not ready for API change? It cought them by surprise?

Deezer on my work laptop is working, on my private laptop working , on my phone working, in my car via Android Auto working.

Not working on my WiiM Amp Ultra for two months and it's Deezer's problem?

Of course Deezer's own app works. Surely it is Deezer's responsibility to work with third parties to maintain compatibility. I have no idea how Deezer and WiiM communicate.

Maybe that is it. Lack of communication from both sides, I don't know either
I understand your frustration, while still having to note that not only WiiM are affected. That doesn't make the situation any better for you as a customer, but it's a strong indicatior that Deezer is the party not communicating with their partners in time.

Anybody integrating Deezer directly into their own products relies on the SDK (Software Development Kit) provided by Deezer. This SDK allows third parties to make use of Deezer's API (Application Programming Interface). Third parties do not (and are not allowed to) hack into the functionality that might be available through Deezer's API. They must to use a Deezer SDK. If they get access too late or the documentation is incomplete or plain wrong or if there are unexpected dependencies with other software packages or bugs in the SDK itself (to name just a few examples), they have no chance to properly adapt their own software.

Usually, vendors - and not only streaming services - aim to keep their API backwards compatible when adding new features. This way, a third party implementation (like WiiM's) might not be able to make use of the latest advancements, but at least it will continue to work as before. In this case Deezer decided to break this backwards compatibility. There are few good reasons for this, the most likely one are "lazy" developers not wanting to maintain "outdated" code.

Even if we assume that Deezer did have a really good reason to break backwards compatibility,. it's still not a sign of good habits if they don't enable their partners to act ahead of time.

Truth to be told, I have no clue if WiiM could have done something about this change beforehand. Maybe, maybe not. That fact that other vendors are suffering from the same problem makes me think it's rather the latter. The fact that Deezer's own apps have been updated accordingly is trivially true. Platforms that work with native apps (like Ever solo) might not be affected. But this approach comes with other disadvantages. In the end, both ends need to get it right and the necessary information must be provided.

Apologies for the inconvenience. This issue is related to an update toDeezer's APl. We have contacted our API provider and are waiting for Deezer to resolve the problem.
APologies for spamming today the forums 😀 I contacted Deezer today too amd complain to them a little. So I wan't to ask you do you know anything new about this issue? If you do could you please, with cherry on top, give us some new info?
Thanks
