Hello everyone,
I wanted to get a WiiM for a long time and instead for the Pro I went with the Ultra because it Supports Dolby Digital Passthrough and has a HDMI Input.

When I connect my TV to my active speakers (Nubert SP-500) the speakers Show that they get a Dolby Digital Signal. This works both over HDMI Arc and TOSLINK.

If I pass through the WiiM and connect it via Toslink, it only receives a PCM Signal.

On the WiiM it shows this, wich looks correct to me.

Any clue on how to fix this?

Shouldn't Tidal Streams also be in Dolby Digital Format in some cases? I've tried many Songs today, also with Atmos and the speakers always showed a PCM Signal.

Hi welcome,

I may have misunderstood your question, but the Ultra's HDMI ARC can receive (input) Dolby Audio, but cannot output it as Dolby. So the output to the speakers would be PCM 2-ch.

However, the beta firmware currently allows wireless Dolby 5.1 audio playback using two or more WiiMs.

Oh, well that explains it.
I was expecting that the passthrough just puts out the exact same signal it receives.
Could that be done with future Software Upgrades?

I only have a Stereo 2.0 Setup so I guess the Beta won't fix anything in my case.

To be fair I don't really know the differences but I had a feeling that movies did have a wider soundrange in DD Mode, even tho it's just a Stereo Setup with DD Support.

I have no idea if that will be supported in the future. (Unfortunately, I am not a member of the WiiM Team. Just a WiiM nard 😅)

I don't know if that can be addressed in software, but you can submit a request ticket through the feedback section of the WiiM home app.

Also, I believe the wireless Dolby beta worked with a one Ultra. It probably only outputs signals for the front and center channels, but you might want to try it.

In the WiiM app, tap on the device settings (gear icon) and at the bottom of the device info screen there is a "Join Beta Testing" button. You can install and try the beta version here 😄.
