Hello all,

In the Android WiiM app, under Settings > EQ, I change the EQ to different presets (like Dance, Techno, etc.), but I don’t hear any change in the music that is playing.
Is this normal?

Thanks,
Aster

No , Wifi In and Out , a multiroom Audio Pro setup.
No cables go in or out my WiiM Ultra.
Sorry, don’t understand that. What’s the relationship between the Ultra and the Audio Pro speakers, and what device are you trying to change EQ on and what devices don’t you hear a change on?

So, if I’m correct, the WiiM is not playing the music,; all the speakers are playing separately, correct? Is the DAC inside the WiiM also not working in my Multiroom setup?

Would it be resolved by connecting the WiiM with a cable to one of my Audio Pro devices?

Each speaker in a multi room music group has its own volume, EQ etc accessible via the cog icon on the devices page. What is the Ultra connected to to play its audio?

Also, in a WiiM/Linkplay group the first device accepts the audio from its source, say a streaming service or radio, and it then passes that audio to other devices in the group, as well as playing that audio itself. The Ultra’s DAC will be used if it is using its analog output which has nothing to do with multi room.

At the moment, I have no cables going in or out the WiiM, all is done by Wifi Multiroom (Linkplay)

So if I'm correct, I have to use an analog output to one of my AudioPro's to use the DAC of the WiiM ?
Will the DAC of the WiiM wil have an affect on alle my AudioPro? Or only on the first one receiving the sound by analog cable ?

You’re mixing up the functions of each device with multi room, and they’re by and large independent.

The DAC in the WiiM (by definition of its function “digital to analog converter”) is only used when you are sending audio from the WiiM to an external device over its analog line out connections. Multi room is merely a means of passing an audio stream around similar devices for them to then process them as they see fit, either using their DAC or not depending on their internal/external connections. The WiiM DAC has no bearing on the audio sent to other devices in a multi room group.

To use the wiim dac, yes, use its analog output into an audio pro.
I have a feeling the audio pro will likely then convert that to digital and back to analog.
Or use a wiim digital out into the audio pro (it has optical in, right?).
With either ultra analog or digital out, any EQ done in the wiim will then be in the signal received by that one (and only that one) audio pro.

Could you maybe group just the audio pros (remove the ultra from the group) and use the Ultra as the (wired) source for one of the audio pros (the group parent) so that all the audio pros play what is being sent to, and then out of, the ultra?
As the source would be EQd, that would, I believe, mean that all the audio pros would play the same wiim EQd sound.

It's getting clearer now.

So, if I connect the WiiM analogously to my Audio Pro Drumfire, the DAC of the WiiM is used to convert the sound from Digital to Analogue.

The Drumfire sends this analoge sound, digitally to my other Audio Pro Speakers, which will use their own DAC.
Right?

But does this the sound of the other speakers still benefit from the DAC of the WiiM ? Or is this lost by the Drumfire converting the analogue sound back to digital?

Depends on which Audio pro devices are in use re input connections - the A-series just have a 3.5mm aux in.

But I agree with what you say re using the WiiM merely as a source feeding a group rather than being in the group.

Ok, thanks. I will try it and give feedback.
