The WiiM ultra:s internal dac sounds better today than before. I compared a year ago to my external dac that was better sounding, and compared again yesterday. Now the internal dac sounds better with more detail and less sibilance. Probably some improvements done in firmware ? I’m gonna sell my external dac .

Probably not, the DAC circuit is designed as-is and seems to follow the reference design quite strict. The only thing that for sure was changed in firmware was the ability to change the curves of the digital filter which was always included in the function-set of the DAC chip but not enabled for the user to change. Even budget DAC's are transparent to the source for some time now so most of the differences people think they hear is just in their head, confirmation bias, wishing it to be true.

I think my wish list has been covered already in the thread:
- Quality volume knob with smooth action. The current knob feels cheap, and worst of all, gritty!
- OLED display, so that the artwork is less washed out and the black backgrounds are black, not grey.
- Additional digital COAX input
- Airplay - Not for me, I won't use it, but WiiM need to do it so the reviewers have literally nothing negative to say!
- Square form factor with higher quality glass front panel. The emulation of the Mac Mini design isn't my cup of tea

A larger screen, so that ideally two VU meters can be displayed side by side.
