Features wanted in a Wiim Ultra 2

You're echoing ideas I've been defending here for a very long time... mini 2,( pro2 without dac), one machine with and without screen for " plus/ultra "etc...
(even if it makes me sound like an idiot...)

The list of things to optimize on current machines has been known since... their release... easy to define and explained for a long time...some omissions and, above all, some weaknesses...

My point is more related to a widespread feeling that many are pushing Wiim to move towards the "higher end," where other players are already establishing themselves... from the "Eversolo to..." cheap"...

My instinct would be to encourage Wiim to instead protect their market position, where they are clearly " broad leader".. by making machines that are simply more refined in terms of hardware, drawing on their accumulated experience and perspective... the competition will have them in their sights...
consolidate their position...

This is just to exchange ideas...

Wiim certainly has their own thoughts on this etc.

But above all...

I'm going to make a fool of myself by rambling on like this. ;-))

this has been going in circles for a very long time... without even any dialogue with the Wiim teams...
So..."what's the point"...

less-good...well, isn't that the WiiM Pro Plus?
less-good? If you listen through the built-in DAC, like me, Pro Plus better in every way. It doesn't have that ridiculous display, which isn't visible from the listening position anyway and is only good for displaying the indicator (just one, hahaha), and it doesn't have the almost-useless phono preamp (the digital one, audiophiles are freaking out). The only advantage is the USB port for connecting an external DAC, but the internal one is just as good as the one in the Ultra. The built-in power supply is also more of a drawback, but I'm afraid to discuss that.

Regarding the topic, what could be improved on the Ultra for the same price? A larger display?

The screen - that's a matter of personal preference, but you can turn it off if you don't like it.

Phono pre amp - I'm reminded of a quote from Ferris Bueller's Day Off where Ferris calls Cameron's car a "pile of sh*t", and Cameron complains, to which Ferris replies "I don't even have a pile of sh*t, I have to envy yours".

The USB port for connecting an external DAC and local storage. The Pro Plus is a non-starter for me for this very reason.

Built in power supply - as the Ultra is measurably and provably transparent, you're right not to enter into that one.

You've missed the sub out on the Ultra.

For clarity, and the avoidance off doubt, if my Ultra didn't have USB for local storage or sub out, I'd not buy the Pro Plus, I'd just get a Mini and use it with my standalone DAC. Indeed, that's what I already do with my headphone set up downstairs.
