Every component in playback chain alters the original signal in some fashion. It might be sonically subtle or more pronounced. You may care or not care about the differences. So having two preamps in the picture will likely give you a slightly different sonic picture of what is being played than with a one preamp.

You have the gear to conduct your own experiment. You can feed the Marantz CD player into the WiiM and then from the WiiM to the 740A. You can also feed the Marantz CD player directly into the 740A. By switching the output on the Marantz and the inputs on the 740A you can compare the two sounds and decide if you like one better than the other.

Just remember that louder typcially sounds better so when you switch from one to the other, you'll want to adjust the volume to sound equally loud.
