Going to give lossless a shot

Do any of these AirPlay workarounds wake the Ultra or even a Wiim Amp Ultra when playing? Except Airplaying to the Apple TV, which obviously does. I tried the SR11 and there’s no way the wife is gonna figure out how to turn on the Wiim and then AirPlay to the Fiio.

Turn on the auto detect for the optical input.

Did that, did not wake it from standby.

Been there, done that.

I use Belkin Soundform Connect for Airplay for Ultra. Optical sending didn’t work me either. Ended with spare Fiio Taishan connected to Belkin via optical and with RCA Line to Ultra.

Line In autosening works for me. This Fiio DAC in chain is kind of overkill, one can use simply line out-line in connection.

I'm using a WiiM Mini connected via optical to my Ultra for Airplay, and auto sensing usually works okay, but if for some reason it doesn't, I find that a simple press on volume up, or down button on the Ultra Remote Control wakes it up for me.

Just finished my whole ‘hi-res’ setup. Got the Cubilux USB C/optical adapter last week, and just plugged in a Cooidea 3x1 optical switcher, so I can have optical out from the TV or iPad for music at the touch of a button. Replaced the old power strip with a surge protector with USB plugs to keep the number of adapters down in that jumbled mess of spaghetti back there. Downside is it adds yet another remote to the collection, but it beats swapping cables. The switcher supports up to 24/192, so I should be good with whatever Apple Music throws at it. Brandon Perry is sounding pretty good right now.
