Lossless with iPhone downloaded files

I understand that AirPlay is not supported with WiiM devices, but if I play my downloaded files through the app then they appear to be playing lossless, as the picture shows. Is this being played over WiFi this way? Or is the bitrate shown just giving me information and not an accurate representation of what’s being played? Thanks for any insight!

Local files are played over WiFi to your WiiM device and will support up to 24/192, irrespective of whether the device supports AirPlay or not.

After playing around with some sample downloads I don't think that playing local ALAC files works on Android phones.

That surprises me as I'd expect the WiiM device to do the rendering not the phone. If I remember tomorrow, I'll give it a go from my phone.

I don't own any real world ALAC files so - as I said - I just picked up some files from a side claiming to provide sample files. Keen to hear from your finding.
