HDMI and analog on AVR: The two shall never commingle as an AVR SCENE preset?

So, I have a Yamaha TSR-700 AVR. HDMI devices are all routed through it (this is how it is supposed to work). I like the WiiM app on the TV via an HDMI streamer but, it looses the audio coming in from a Pro Plus to RCA on the AVR or the WiiM app vanishes if I switch to the analog SCENE preset.

In the TSR-700 settings, a configuration is possible to achieve manually to see the WiiM app and hear the Pro Plus but, it oddly cannot be saved as a SCENE preset. The preferable and civilized way to use both the WiiM app on the smart HDMI device and the Pro Plus RCA out for the sound..

The TSR-700 (and its sibling, the RX-V6A) treats the pairing of a video source with a different audio source as a temporary override rather than a permanent input definition or a savable parameter. Like a scene button on the remote.

Has anyone found an override or work around to allow this mixed scene to be saved on any kind of AVR? Ideally, of course, the TSR-700/RX-V6A.

Never mind, I figured it out. However, I only have 4 physical buttons, all used. Can’t figure out how to put this on Musiccast app button 5 or 6 scene. 😂

  • Select your Audio Source: Use the remote to select the input for your WiiM Pro Plus
  • Open the Option Menu: Press the OPTION button on the remote.
  • Set Video Out: Scroll to Video Out and select the HDMI input your Apple TV, FireTV, etc. is connected to. You should now see the Apple TV video but hear the WiiM audio.
  • Save to Scene: Press and hold one of the SCENE buttons on the remote for about 3 to 5 seconds until "Setting Complete" appears on the front display.
