Wim or weem or whim?
Yeah I grew up learning the old fashioned pronunciation of wh where the h is actually sounded. When I was taught, this was the correct pronunciation and the w only sound was considered improper or lazy. Now, pronouncing the h is considered old-fashioned - go figureWhat would be the difference between "wim" and "whim"?
At least Google translator pronounces them the same.
Which one would you prefer?
How do you pronounce the "h" after a "w"? I can imagine pronouncing an h before a w but not afterYeah I grew up learning the old fashioned pronunciation of wh where the h is actually sounded. Is that "Vim" or "Veem"?... And in many languages (eg. German, etc) it's going to be a 'Viim'
Should be pronounced Vim, with some vigourIn German we say: Es wird ausgesprochen wie geschrieben ;-)
W like Wilhelm - I like Ida - I like Ida - M like Martha
I would think in English Veem is like we do it.
No, short, like “him”.Isn't the ee or ii part lonnnnnng?
Also
At one point WiiM said it stood for WIreless Internet Media, so I guess you could choose between the “eye” sound in wireless, or the short “i” in internet, but there’s no “ee” sound unless you’re confusing it with Nintendo’s device - in fact, I blame that for the mispronunciation…Why? ;-)
Hwy? (Looks Welsh now..)Also
Apparently an old spelling was "hw"Pronunciation of English ⟨wh⟩ - Wikipedia

Must have missed that. Where (hwere) was it confirmed? If you come up with a name in a world where the Nintendo Wii exists by adding an "m" you must be prepared for people to pronounce it WeemWhere does the “h” come from? It was only recently confirmed in the forum by admin that it’s WiM, not weem and definitely not whim.
