The TDAI-1120 digitises its only analogue input, so technically b) simply cannot be better than a). If you're after a specific sound, you can still try all options, of course.

If this is correct which I’m sure it is then undoubtedly you should connect digitally and according to the specs I have read use the coax as it’s capable of 24/192 whereas the digital is limited to 24/96. Set the WiiM output accordingly.

Exactly.

And the 96 kHz toslink limit is real, not just a matter of documentation. 192 kHz does work occasionally, but isn't stable.
