ios 18.3.1
spotify 9.0.18
wiim home latest version

Prior to the iOS update, Wiim Ultra device switching was successful in the Spotify app.
I can't find the device in the soptify app after updating the ios.
Only connecting comes out.

You can connect to the device through the wiim home app.
When connected, it comes out of the spotify app and can be operated,
I have to do that again next time.

I don't know if it's a problem with ios, wiim home, or spotify app.

I also tried to initialize the wiim ultra device.

Not convinced either way who is what % at fault, but a fix would be appreciated!
This is what WiiM stated in one of the other threads about the Spotify issue:

I notice that there’s a “Spotify Connect quick fix” beta version of firmware for the ultra dated 15/2 that allows you to turn off Chromecast in an upcoming version 3.1.3 of the WiiM app (“coming soon”)

I have this version as of today (Android), but I see no fix for the Spotify issue. Still won't connect to Spotify Connect, only Google Cast.
You don't have an ultra ;)
(Or did you buy one without telling us!!)

If I didn't suddenly have a ton of work dropped on me I'd have tried this out already.
Oh well, I'm sure someone else will get to it shortly, and anyway Spotify isn't my main source.

I cannot see that anybody ever promised or announced a fix for tis Spotify coming from WiiM l. Quite the contrary.

It's not in the release notes either.

Edit:
The mentioned "quick fix" is just a workaround, sacrificing other functionality. It's not a permanent solution.

Options appear to be:
1. Just use ChromeCast (select Chromecast rather than Spotify Connect on the device in Spotify App)
2. Reset WiiM and don't enable Chromecast
3. Turn on beta and load the firmware that allows Chromecast to be enabled or not

For those using Google Home, switching off Chromecast has implications

- Cannot say "OK Google Stop", have to switch streaming off on the device
- Cannot stream radio or spotify by voice command from Google Home
- Cannot control volume, next song etc on Google Home app

The main disadvantage of this is chromecast stops when the mobile leaves the wifi or app is shut down etc. Ideally Spotify fix the app and we can truly select Spotify Connect from the app but use chromecast as well when not Spotify Streaming.

I know this is an old thread, did everyone get a fix? I find that Spotify on iPhone 13 iOS 18.3.2 does not see my WiiM Ultra. I have an iPhone 6 and a 2017 iPad running iOS 12-ish and they both show not only the WiiM Ultra but about twice as many other household devices. Makes me think it’s a Spotify/iOS issue. I uploaded the latest iOS last Friday which said it would fix some streaming issues but I guess Spotify wasn’t one of them….

Hi. Hopefully this is the right place for this without starting a new thread.

I just acquired a Wiim amp. Great so far. Except, while I can play from Spotify (from my iPhone) through the Wiim amp, I can't make a group in the google home app, as I was formerly doing with an external Chromecast jacked into my old amp, to enable music to play in different rooms. From the Spotify app, I changed "choose how to connect" from "Spotify connect" to "google cast", but it still won't show up in the google home app as an option from which I can "create a speaker group". I do see it in there as a 'local device".

Thanks.

Have you enabled Chromecast for the WiiM amp? Have you added it to a room in the Google home app? What other devices are you trying to group it with?

1. I THINK so! I remember telling it to do so when I set it up, although it somehow didn't feel as though anything definitive had happened in that regard. I am able to play Spotify from iPhone on Wiim amp, both by its default setting (Spotify Connect) & by changing it to google cast.
2. In google home app, it shows as a "Local device". I can't seem to make a group with my other chromecasts.
3. Other chromecasts scattered around the house. When I go to settings (in google home app)>devices, groups & rooms>speaker groups>create speaker group, 4 local audio chromecasts (& 1 video one) show up as options, but not the wiim.

Thanks for your reply & help.

You will have to add it to a room for it to be available for grouping. A "Local device" is not in a room.

And if you're having issues adding it to a room, see this post

Thanks.
I did as you instructed, not enabling Chromecast...but when it came time to set up the new device in google home, I never heard the sound over the speakers that I was supposed to. I went ahead anyway, just in case... added the wiim to a room, named it, & made the new group, but predictably (since I skipped the "sound over speakers" step), no sound via wiim.
I'll try from scratch in a few hrs.
Don't know if it makes a difference, but I think I'll try with wiim connected via LAN. I only have 1 available LAN in the room where the Wiim is located, & I had it connected to my tv, thinking video was more signal strength dependent than audio. But I'll give it a shot just in case.
Thanks again.
