Fine, as long as it doesn’t impact the WiiM as a renderer for other UPNP control points, including the WiiM home app.I have already mentioned that I get occasional errors and it is also the possibility for even further enhancement .
So you would like to have some "tweaks" implemented in the Linux network stack etc. right? What about the compatibility?I would like Wiim pro plus to become JPLAY Certified since I heavily use JPLAY app. Eversolo became recently …
I doubt it as he's already made his feelings clear about JPLAY on the MinimServer forum.Maybe we’ll see BubbleUPnP chasing certification too
Seemingly Jplay do prefer WAV because FLAC somehow “disturbs memory”. Mmm…Sounds to me like they’re resurrrecting the old arguments similar to WAV being better than FLAC because the latter takes more cpu power to decode the audio before playback. Even if that argument did have some validity years ago (if it ever did), processors are much more powerful than they were back then and things have moved on, so the likelihood of a reduced cpu and network load improving the sound of the audio is similarly outdated in my opinion.

What do you expect from WiiM? What is this certification exactly? Please read the thread . What you say is another thing . I am referring to the JPLAY iOS app.
And presumably expect companies to pay them to do the extensive tests.“JPLAY Certified is an initiative that allows other hi-fi manufacturers to enhance their products' compatibility with the JPLAY iOS app, ensuring that you get an unparalleled audiophile experience across the board.”
“This is granted to products that offer outstanding audio quality and an optimal experience when paired with JPLAY’s app. Products are put through extensive tests during the certification process to ensure they meet JPLAY’s strict standards.”
To me sounds like Jplay trying to up their profile - sort of the reverse of Roon where manufacturers look to up their profile by association with Roon …
For Roon it's easy to understand - they have their own protocol. But for this jplay app it's not as they advertise it as compatible with almost every DLNA streamer.“JPLAY Certified is an initiative that allows other hi-fi manufacturers to enhance their products' compatibility with the JPLAY iOS app, ensuring that you get an unparalleled audiophile experience across the board.”

Indeed, it’s UPNP which admittedly isn’t great in terms of a standard implementation, perhaps Openhome apartFor Room it's easy to understand - they have their own protocol. But for this jplay app it's not as they advertise it as compatible with almost every DLNA streamer.
And they promise "dramatically better sound quality"... Jeez...
Some on the dcs forum seem unimpressed
dCS and JPlay Questions
Now that the dCS network attached devices are JPlay certified I am wondering what I might enjoy if I purchased the app. Mind you, 50 quid a year versus zero is the first hurdle. My first question concerns JPlay’s statement that " JPLAY minimizes the network traffic between the app and the audio...dcs.community
They probably see no harm and it might gain them more customers among JPlay users. It is those dcs users that don't see the value. Lots of manufacturers saw value in MQA.If DCS as a company did not see any value it would not bother partnering with JPLAY.
Or better yet use the WHA as the queue is held on the renderer. Why don’t you make an experiment ? Get the free trial of the app and set the update time to 12000 in settings

I was talking specifically about sound quality, because if the benefit comes from reduced network traffic, by using the WHA (and closing it) you have the ultimate solution as there will be no unnecessary network traffic. Try it for yourself you'll be amazed!Look I don’t want to repeat myself … The user experience for navigating Qobuz and Tidal is vastly better. It has nice information about albums , it supports Qobuz recommendations.I was never fond of Wiim app for playing music due to the app interface. Also sound quality is better .
